At some point, don't you start to think it's the whole program more than the OC? Think about what we saw last year and how we all said if Richt just did this or that we'd win 10. Seems to me Enos is doing enough of what we wanted, yet here we are. I honestly think it's about "culture", not coordinators.
We don't have the culture or players or whatever that makes you will yourself to victory. That sounds silly, but I think it's true. We've got the talent. We've got the coaches (at very least they're as good as the other second tier teams). The coaches and talent say the right kinds of things, but at some level we're just soft. At some point you make a play and win the game or you don't. In 2017 we made those plays. Now we don't.
We've been in position to win the first two games and haven't. We can say uf is technically more talented, so maybe that's not a huge deal? But UNC? They just played better and wanted it more.
We just don't want it bad enough.
We're simply too talented for any of our deficiencies to matter against UNC.
Good posts on both accounts.
What we are witnessing is the stench of loserdom and pressure busting pipes.
It’s Emotional/psychological rot that comes from the top.
Manny is not ready right now.
When you are trying to revamp a fallen program like ours, you have to get everything right. Small chinks in the armor lead to big wounds in the flesh.
You first create a culture of accountability and hard work.
I think we are doing that. The next step is where so many coaches go wrong. You have to run the actual on field systems in a way that builds players confidence and DON’T F’UCK UP THE MOMENTUM WITH STUPID ****.
We are lamenting a loss to a much less talented team because Mack Brown is doing that.
We have outrecruited UNC by leaps and bounds. Couldn’t tell by the way it looked on the field. The players are hesitant and tight. They are trying not to make mistakes and thinking instead of cutting loose and playing ball. This is why our fast players look slow.
Our coaching strategies are off and there are concerns about the leadership of position coaches and coordinators.
Our schemes don’t fit our talent well on both sides of the ball and players aren’t executing, creating a psychological snowball effect.
We don’t have room for this type of error. We look way better in shotgun, but don’t run it enough. We blitzed on 4th and 17 and gave up the first. Hill was unblockable on pass downs at vt. Where is he now? Special teams a mess for three years in a row?
This can be fixed. The only question is will it be fixed? It’s still early. However the thing that causes doubt to creep in is that the issues that sunk previous regimes showed up early, too.
Let us pray.
