Miami was #2 in the country, looking ahead to a Pitt game to finish what we all assumed would be an undefeated regular season and an ACC showdown with Clemson. More than that, Miami was THE hot program. 'the U" was back and it was glorious.
And then,... it all fell apart like a Bernie Madoff ponzi scheme(although his run was a lot longer, admittedly)
It was all a dream, we used to read Word Up! Magazine
Fast forward a year later and honestly, as someone who has followed this program religiously as a subway alum(from Los Angeles) who has developed friendships with some of you guys on here, former players and others associated with the program and been through the highs and lows(which I'm good with, that's part of being a fan), I can honestly say, I've never been this down on the program or this disheartened.
Yeah, this is worse than 97. Anyone with any intelligence knew what Paul Hilton Davis was dealing with those early years. But what's Richt's excuse? I'm being dead serious, while he's not the worse coach I've seen at Miami, this single season in 2018 is the worst job of managing and coaching a program I have ever seen at UM. And it's not even close
Fellas, as I've told you before, welcome to 'Richtbation' a form of 'the death penalty' which has nothing to do with the NCAA. Till he's gone, UM is U Mediocre. This guy is more shot than Muhammad Ali in the Bahamas vs Trevor Berbick. It is what it is. And I'm not sure shuttling in a few new coaches and coordinators will really be anything more than shuffling deck chairs on the Titanic after the iceberg. We've seen this song and dance with Coker prior to the 2006 season(his last at Coral Gables, BTW)
As for Jeff Thomas, if any of you watched the documentary on his high school('89 Blocks') you knew he might be an issue. I was told by a good source he was thinking about transferring after last season. So this shouldn't be all that stunning to anyone. But you know what, they should've known what they were getting into and quite frankly, I'm good with Thomas. Guy could flat out ball, he's one of the very few reasons I still looked forward to Miami games this season(yeah, I'm a *********). I don't necessarily condone his attitude but I know this, any of us in his Adidas would've been frustrated to playing in this garbage system. I will never hold any ill will towards this young man, I'll be looking forward to seeing him at the next level. This program and Richt could've helped him grow up, instead, they let this kid become a problem and ran him out.
And yeah, he's not the only one contemplating getting outta here. This has been festering for awhile I've been told. This will be a VERY interesting off-season.
Folks, we are in the abyss.
Anyways, enjoy your Thanksgiving...
And oh.... Beat Pitt!!
