It's got to be over money. No search firm I have ever heard of would withdraw a candidate that their employer had interest in. His relationship with Miami must have predated the search and there's probably a clause in the contract where they get less when that happens.

A quality search company has been retained to do a job by a business, in this case the University of Miami. They have been contracted to do a job, let them do it! Any good firm would react the same way, if people are going around them to interfere in a search they were retained to perform. It's astonishing that people don't understand how a business is supposed to function, properly.

This whole deal is unbelievable. Why would any respectable coach come take this job. There is no leadership and a complete lack of direction In the BOT and Admin. This is so pathetic. They deserve another wasted year of Manny and additional staff buyouts for being so incompetent. Add in no attendance, toxic fan base etc. this will spiral next year worse than Goldens.

I’m sure someone in the BOT owns that search firm.

No different than a CPA firm walking when they find fraud in financials. It’s their prerogative to not be associated with it. Whether they’re right or wrong in their assumption.

I’m sure they don’t want their name linked to the hire in the case that there’s something that comes up after the fact.

Tells me Miami hired the firm as a smoke screen of doing due diligence. Fine by me

There has to be a reason.

It’s been guessed already that somehow hiring Jurich, if that happens, is not financially attractive to the search firm, ie, there is no financial incentive for them.

But D$ is absolutely right, if this is happening as it seems or is reported to be happening, you never let a service provider dictate terms. Never.

Happens all the time. We think we know who we want but we want to test the waters to make sure. Go out and find 3-5 guys who you believe are as good or better options... The issue has to be the payout is too low for the search firm if they take Jurich. Can't imagine any other reason.

Let’s hope that’s all that is going on here. And if so, let’s hope Frenk tells them to go F their own face.
