Jump Balls to Cager Need to be Higher Still

Assuming he holds onto balls that hit his hands, which hasn't been a given so far, Cager's size should make him a jump ball mismatch against almost anyone covering him. The balls Perry has thrown to him in the end zone the last couple weeks were still too low to take advantage of his height and reach, even if he ultimately caught (some) of them.

Cager isnt a hand catcher. Higher passes probably wouldn't matter. If he wins the body position battle he usually makes the catch if not its a drop.

Disagree with that completely.

He had a 3rd down pass on the first drive that was placed high where only he could get it, it hit him directly in the hands & he still dropped it.

Cager is not a hands catcher, he catches with his body, which is why he drops so many passes that hit him squarely in his hands.

He had a quick slant in the red zone in the 4th quarter with 5:32 left on another 3rd down that was a perfect pass right in the chest & he dropped. If he catches it we would've converted that 3rd down & most likely scored on that drive.

I'm glad he gets us TD's in the End Zone, he's good for 2 a game ✌🏾, but WR's are held to a high standard, if it hits you the hands you're expected to catch it, unless it's just a really bad thrown ball. None of those drops Cage had were badly thrown, he just didn't catch it.

Those passes have been perfect, Cager's job is to highpoint the ball... which is doesn't want/know how to do.

Rosier is the one that screws up the fade ball.
Perry's have been fine. Cager is just a little WR in a big WR's body.

The 1st jump ball that was dropped was high but wasn't put in the perfect spot away enough to allow Cager to body the DB but still was catchable and he knew it... the 2nd jump ball was low but Cager just wasn't going to let the DB knock it away that time around.

His issue last game wasn't the placement of the ball he just had some uncharacteristic drops that he shouldve caught.. he knows it and will learn from it. Still having a very good season this year though.

Agreed, he tries to trap every jump ball against his body instead of reaching out for it with his arms. He drops one of these a game because of it.

He dropped one in RZ against FIU as well. Teams don't get multiple chances to score like this in the RZ. Even the slant if he just reaches his arms out instead of letting it get to his body its a catch.

I’m likely in the minority on this but Langham is a better hands catcher and would be productive on those fades
Nah you right, the main reason Langham still gets so much PT is because he's the most sure handed catcher we have.

He's not very fast, but he's come into his own & finally realized that at 6'4 240-245lbs that he can be physical & get open by using his body lol. His first 3 years here, he was always a big guy who never used his physicality.

He's a chain mover, good for a catch or 2 every game, not gonna beat anybody deep ever, just get a 1st down every now & then.

Cager doesn’t play as big as he’s listed. He should be abusing small dBs and snatching the ball out of the air.

Wrong. Fade he dropped was placed perfectly. He just didn't catch it. And the one he caught was spot on too. And he **** near whiffed on that one and ended up trapping it against his chest.

Donk needs to put him in front of the jugs machine until his hands bleed. He can earn himself some $$ if he learns to catch with hands. Call mark Duper if you have to, he did wonders for #85(name escapes me)years ago.

Go Canes!

The throws need to be a bit higher, and Cager needs to do a better job of high pointing the balls.

I'd like to use Mallory on those moving forward.
