Capital hill and Congress Miami Hurricanes alumni chapter Washington DC

I helped start that group back in the ‘80’s, and I’m not even an alum.

There’s a lost history of the genesis of the D.C. alumni group. We started as simply a group of UM football fans watching games at the great but now defunct sports bar, Champions.

Early on, I got great help from a staff person in the alumni office, Kathy Zirulnick, but she left and I was stuck with the Director, Joe Pineda. (I’ll keep my real opinion to myself.)

Somehow, the group kept going on after I moved to NY and over time the University got its act together and now there is a flourishing alumni operation. Back in the ‘80’s, it was like pulling teeth.

One of the more significant activities back then was the Miami Circle, but that was it.
