2027 Joshua Dobson 5* CB from NC (William Amos Hough HS) commits to USCe

Agreed; Elko had a shot with the combo of Klein and Reed last year (as well as unlimited funds) and still fell short.

There's apparently a growing love affair for Elko here and all the money A&M has but what has Elko won in his career?

Until this season Mario was criticized for not winning anything but at least he won something while at Oregon and did some things at FIU. So, why are we getting our panties here about Elko and A&M? What have they ever done?

The money has always been there. NIL or not there's been oil money pumped into the program and the players. Sign all the 5 stars but can you manage that dynamic? Do you have the culture in place?

Until Elko and A&M do something of meaning they can go **** themselves. And anyone here scared of College Station and their *** cult and the lil money, then go find some other program to rep.

Some of you around here need to tighten up
For real. That **** stain university has thrown more money at recruits than almost anyone the past 10 years and have nothing to show for it.

If Elko and his 100 gallon belly doesn’t win a championship in the next 2 years he should be fired.

It's crazy this mf needs this much talent just to only score field goals in a home playoff game lol

lol.. let’s not forget the legendary good on paper classes they were signing when Bimbo Fisher was there. And resulted in nothing

Their boosters must legit print thier own money to be wasting on this sorry *** program like this

We do this every year...

Who gives a f*ck what $aTm$, taint, or any other school pays for what players. It's their money. In contrast, we sit here saying how much we're NOT going to pay. We got two different bank accounts, two different agendas, and two different definitions of success. If they win a natty, the money doesn't look so stupid.

It is what it is. Let em spend it in peace, can't take it with them to the grave.

To @cookies point, the hit rate is far more important than the specific class ranking. I know we're losing some guys we wanted. But getting a guy like Keys after missing on Johnson-Cook should tell everyone we are going to have a high-quality commit list.

A few years back when player payments were legalized, @DMoney said we weren't in the top group of spenders but were in the second tier, somewhere in 6-10. Seems to be playing out exactly that way. We can grab a few guys we really want and match or even beat the top spenders for them. But we need to manager our roster budget more carefully than TAMU, Taint, Oregon and TT do.

A top coaching staff with top recruiters and evaluators, a culture that encourages development and retention, and a top 6-10 player budget. Not to mention one of the best if not the best local recruiting grounds in the country and being located in a "dream" destination-location. That's collectively a recipe for sustained success.

They were pulling in crazy classes and were terrible on the field. These Texas boosters must have unlimited funds for sure.

Going through the Bryce Fitzgerald commitment/recruitment thread is illuminating in this sense. Many people didn’t believe he was worthy of an offer.

People truly believe that the rankings, of individuals and of teams’ classes, are based on scientific evidence and will more or less reflect future outcomes as if they are a laws of physics.

Ahmad Moten was ranked lower than his brother. Our lowest 6 recruits in the 2022 class were in descending order: Isaiah Horton, Jaden Harris, Matthew McCoy, Ahmad Moten, Colbie Young (4th round) and Anez Cooper (6th round).

Cyrus Moss = Massive bust. Nyjalik Kelly; transferred for PT, signed by the Green Bay Packers as a UDFA. Jaleel Skinner should be an impact player for Louisville next year; might parlay that into getting drafted. Chris Graves Jr just transferred from Ole Miss to Missouri. Citizen got injured, lost his abilities, and transferred; had a good soph rs season on 83 carries for 509 yards at Mcneese St.

Khamari Rodgers plays for Jackson St. Wesley signed as a UDFA; important signing, 206th overall and 16th best LB. Markeith Williams got kicked outta school. Jacurri Brown won the stating job at Rice. Then come the 6 lowest guys

Found this interesting. Thought LSU would put up more a fight here; Raymond seemed to have the jump on this recruitment from early.

This is pure comedic gold that photoshopped/AI pic of Elmo Elcko

Q: for anyone wishing to opine:

If you’re paying major NIL— meaning you have to fill bags to get all the incoming recruit talent—

You’re literally singing on for multiple years and the number never goes down right?

But if you pay a dozen 4 & 5 stars b/c that’s how you measure your dic* in Texas- at what point does that become unsustainable- some will get injured, a couple will be busts, but you’re on the hook for all of them and then the next class rolls in— the what?

This cannot be sustained at that level anyway— only so much money and it goes away if you can’t get past 1st round of CFP

We good. They are clearly all in on the 2027 class. I respect it. I can only respect when teams decide they are gonna do whatever it takes to win. They are Texas, LSU and Bama problem right now. We will deal with them if they meet us in the playoffs.....again.

Not to mention locker room and retention issues. If a 3rd year starter is getting paid so much and a true freshman is coming in having never played before and is getting more than him, there's gonna be some issues I would imagine.
