Josh Pate picks Miami

He only got 1 final 4 team right last year (Oregon).
Doing these predictions before a season is pure luck. Especially in todays game where there's nearly 10 teams who can legitimately compete for a Natty. Feel free to drop your bracket if it's supposed to be easy though

I know. This is like the Kiss of Death Michael gave to Fredo in Havana after he found out about Hyman Roth, but at least Pate respects us.

Besides, when has Canes Football not had a target on its bac

Fully agree, otherwise I wouldn't have already bought my natty sports betting contracts having us winning....
but also #RATPOISON

You are really starting to see the relationships built and access given starting to really payoff. And of course us actually being good again.

All day everyday different sport shows are talking UM football team and our recruiting.

Mario opening up the doors i think has a lot to do with all the love we’ve been getting.

Now let’s go prove em right.. and the haters wrong
Im not going to say that they needed Miami, but they needed something new to talk about and Miami gave them that. A historic great program, the stigma Miami brought (tradition along with hip urban swag)

He prefaces his picks by saying that while he had previously picked ND to win it all, he's heard some things in the recent offseason that caused him to re-evaluate . In particular, he's heard some things about Miami that has caused him to change his original thinking...

Wouldn't be surprised if he's made some "quiet" trips to practice...
He found out that Mensah is significantly better than Arch/Carr/Sayin etc

I saw a grid where he had us lose to ND late in the playoffs. I think these channels are just trying to appeal to multiple bases.

Out of the teams that made the cut, in my opinion, 4 of them can win it.

1. Miami

2. Oregon

3. Georgia

4. Indiana

Ohio State and Notre Dame both have massively overrated QB’s, Ohio State lost way too much NFL talent on defense, and Notre Dame doesn’t have the offensive firepower to win it all.

Now, let’s narrow it down some more.

Oregon has a history of choking in these games, and this year will be no exception. Dante Moore isn’t that guy. He showed that last year. They also lost both coordinators. That matters a lot more than casual fans understand.

Indiana will still be really good, but Josh Hoover isn’t Mendoza. He will get them far, but not all the way. He doesn’t have the touch on the back shoulder throws that Mendoza has, and he’s way more erratic with the football. Put pressure in his face and he’s gonna commit turnovers. Turnovers get you beat in the playoff. Losing Cooper, Sarratt and 2 thousand-yard RB’s hurts as well. Defense will still be stout, but not stout enough to carry them when Hoover inevitably has a multi-interception game.

Georgia is the one I worry about. Kirby has been there and done that twice, almost made the semifinal last year with an inferior team than the one he’s fielding this year. His defense will be stouter. Stockton is back. Offensive line will be better, running game always seems to be good. Only real question is, do they have legit playmakers at WR? That remains to be seen.

My money is Georgia vs. Miami for all the marbles. If we play a clean game and capitalize on big play opportunities on both sides of the ball, we will take home #6.

I don't think people get sports shows. Most professional gamblers don't even get it right 55% of the time. People don't watch Josh pate for his predictions, they watch because they are CFB junkies and they just want to hear someone talk about CFB and Pate is one of the best at doing that on a national level. I don't listen to DMoney or whatever other Miami guys because I think they are good at predicting the Miami season win total, I listen because I want to hear someone talk about Miami, of course predictions comes with that, but that's not why people listen.

And I don't even listen to Pate regularly but I still hear him making fun of himself for how often he is wrong, especially when he is really wrong. If he was someone making himself out to be some pickem guru but constantly being wrong, then that's another story. But his schtick is just, "I'm a guy who loves CFB, lets talk CFB."
55% in picks is elite for pros in a sustained way. yes some get hot streaks but overall

break even is 52.4% with the vig

dont agree on ohio state unless you are then going to consistently apply the "lost way too much on defense" to miami too

Other than Bain and Mesidor, what did we lose on defense? Thomas and Scott’s production can be replicated by guys like Fitzgerald, Thornton and Dunnigan. Everyone else that made an impact is back. And we got a 10-sack DE in the portal while returning multiple 5-star recruits on the edge who have playoff experience. Pretty sure our defense is in a much better position with 10 days until kickoff.

Ohio State lost 7 draft picks off that defense last year. 3 of those in the first round.

Miami lost 4. 2 in the first round.

There's a difference

Is there any commentator who gets it right all the time? If you charted any of our predictions, we'd look like ******* dumbasses most of the time.

At least Josh Pate admits when he's wrong, and has fun with it, like when he said Mario wasn't coming here, then this happened...
