He gives Miami a lot of love because Mario gives him a lot of access but my biggest problem with him is if you watch his regular show every week during the season it's like 80% SEC talk and a few tidbits here and there from elsewhere.

I don't have a problem with him personally. I actually like his style. I just think he focuses way too much on the SEC, likely because that's where the viewership lies.

I do agree that Pate has an SEC bend to him (which is fine. I'd have a Miami bend if I was in his position), but he is as fair of a content creator as there is out there, imo.

I like the fact that he acknowledges his upbringing and the kind of SEC indoctrination he's dealt with and how ridiculous (my words, not his) and blinding it is.

Content creators cater to their audience. If he makes a YouTube video about UCLA and it gets 50k views and then he makes a video about Auburn and it gets 500k views, he’s going to keep going back to that Auburn well.

Miami generates clicks too. Both Pate and JD Pickell both go heavy with Miami coverage

Idk if you actually listen to his show, but he has many times said that Preseason Rankings, while being fun, should be discarded and rendered useless once games start being played.

He has admitted this one his show many times. Says he loves the G5, but doesnt get the same viewership. So he leans towards the teams ppl want to hear about (viewership)

I get it. I just remember last year tuning into the weekly show in December after we had beat Pitt and just shocked at what he was talking about. He did not speak about Miami beating Pitt in what would ultimately send them into the playoff. I made a post back then detailing the show, I was so dumbfounded lol. About 3/4 of the show was SEC talk. This was the breakdown:

Did not dedicate anything to Miami beating Pitt by 31 points. Two ranked teams playing, lots of drama with Miami and Notre Dame....nothing. Talks about Vandy and Tennessee but not Miami and Pitt. Btw, doesn't even talk about Notre Dame.

Like, what's the point in watching his weekly show as a Miami fan if he's not gonna talk about us?
 
To be fair. After beating Pitt, Miami was still 150 to 1 to win the NC. Mostly because they looked to be on the outside looking in. There wouldn't be much of a reason, nationally, to spend a lot of time on Miami.

I watch national CFB pods because I’m a CFB junkie 😂 , not as a Miami fan. In that realm, I stick to CIS and Miami247 pods.

Pates show, since it’s at night, is a good time filler while I’m studying or completing nightly house tasks while the wife is putting the kids to sleep.

I enjoyed him when he was smaller but he is kind of corny now or maybe his style just got old to me.

He is typically pro Miami so that’s better than most national media has been until recently. He at least watches football and seems to truly care about the health of the sport. I’ll give him that.
