Jordan Woods

Talking to some Gator friends and it sounds like he's out for them. Per 247, Woods has scheduled OVs to Georgia Tech (1/15), West Virginia (1/22) and Miami (1/29). He already OVed at Tennessee and USF.

He is a little stiff and upright on film but you have to like his size and production. Pass rusher is a good position to load up on, so it will be interesting to see if we pursue a third guy like Woods.

He is very stiff, needs a lot of flexibility work in his hips and ankles. The talent is there but you gotta chip away a lot of rust.

I dunno, D$. I think what you're seeing as stiff/upright is more about him playing under control, using his strength/hands to navigate thru blocks, and then he explodes and closes to the QB better than a lot of guys I've seen the past few years.

We've had players (no names mentioned) who can get into the backfield, but can't finish the play. This kid seems like he can finish once he gets the sack opportunity more often than not because he plays more under control.

It's more impressive on film for all of us to see a wildman just flailing off the edge and looking chaotic while getting sacks...but that doesn't always pay off once those dudes get into college.

I only watched the first half of the highlights but iI don't have a concern about his stiffness or being upright. TBH, I really didn't see much of that at all and if I did see it, I saw a little bit of it while he was lined up inside - not his natural position. What I mostly saw was a good burst, tenacious, and played under control (he was not stiff coming from the edge).

Frankly, his video was more impressive than Bethel's. Bring on both.

What I'm not seeing is the bend around the edge and the flexibility to take more direct angles to the QB. His pad level is also inconsistent. One of the areas you see his tightness is in his tackling. He is not able to easily breakdown and ends up coming in high and dragging guys down instead of exploding through.

Overall, I like what he brings to the table. Great frame, plays hard, produces for a good team and seems high character. He doesn't have Joe Jackson's twitch but he's a pretty good athlete. You can never have enough pass rushers.

Hopefully if he comes, the new DL coach will fix him.... he probaly will redshirt anyway

I think we have the best LB class in the country right now and if we got Woods, Jackson, and Bethel that could be one of the best DE classes in the country as well.

I like him as a player but I think he could use a RS year like Jackson. He's already big and strong but he needs some work on technique like D$ pointed out

Would this kid be a take over Brian Burns in your opinion? The Gator board isn't very high on this kid.

From what i seen Woods and Swain was supposed to commit to UF together. I guess they told Jordan they wouldnt accept it and swain committed anyway.

Not really concerned with the gators opinion here.....I'm a fan.....furthermore, I think a guy like Craig Kuligowski could do some serious damage with this kid....plus joe joe and bethel. I say he's a take...

If woods wants to go to UF, I would happily trade 2016 DE Jordan Woods for current UF commit 2016 DE Jachai Polite. I have seen Jachai Polite play against Dr Philips HS and Polite embarrassed all night their 2017 5* Off Tackle ( whom some think is best overall player for the entire 2017 class).

I am not sure what happened between Polite and UM. But Coach Richt needs to revisit Polite's recruitment. With that said 2016 DE Jordan Woods is not a bad conciliation prize, should he choose Miami.
