Lyle isn't good. He looks big and slow, plus can't find his way through an open door.
I still think he can be a good player for us. He flashed last year with some really good runs, and there’s a reason he was taking the first snap against ND this year. There’s rumors that Soldinger mentioned during the offseason that he’s a special talent (I’d say that guy has an eye for RBs). He was obviously hurt and it’s not the first time one of our good players has had a sophomore slump. I’m sure he was indecisive/hesitant coming back from injury. Would like to keep him and he returns to the guy that flashed last year.
I actually thought Lyle had very good balance. Watch some of his runs last year, especially that long one vs Wake Forest.Pringle has balance that we thought Lyle had and he has elite vision. When he shuffles his feet he’s going and hits the hole with speed pause. Lyle is gone imo, that’s why you recruit depth because some won’t fulfill their ranking.
He has terrible vision for a running back. That’s the reason he’s not playing. Why hasn't Lyle been playing?
My assumption is:
1) He's going to transfer because he hasn't been playing
2) He hasn't been playing because when he lost his starting spot to Pringle, he either got into it with the coaches, or they came to a "mutual understanding" he'd be moving on.
My questions (for anyone who knows about the situation):
1) Is that about right or am I way off?
2) Has he still been practicing this whole time?
I can't remember a player going from starter to not used at all this late in the season without some story behind it.
Somewhere like Kansas probablyHe’s going to have a much bigger offer IMO. I assume one of the top end SEC teams will make an offer.
100% agree on last year.
Here's where I'm at:
Fletcher comes back, think we need a portal RB who could replace some of Pringle's explosiveness if he gets nicked up. Similar to what we did picking up Brown who's redundant style wise to Fletcher. Don't think we need a RB1
Fletcher doesn't come back, agree we need a RB1 who has a bigger frame than Pringle.
I know it's a business now, but I'd hate if we tried to nudge Fletcher out, considering all he's been through and given for the university. If he wants to move on and try to make an NFL team, that's a different story...
What exactly is his "running style"? Does he have one?The main issue seems that his running style doesn’t fit our blocking scheme. But doesn’t explain how he was RB1 coming out of camp.
maybe that quick area burst isn't getting him out of trouble like it is for PringleI actually thought Lyle had very good balance. Watch some of his runs last year, especially that long one vs Wake Forest.
Disagree. I bet he gets looks from programs like Tennessee, Auburn, and Miss St.Somewhere like Kansas probably
and KnightonLike CJ Johnson![]()
No inside knowledge, but I wouldnt be surprised by #1. For #2, I am assuming that there wasnt a fight or mutual understanding, but rather he is just not playing much bc Fletcher, Pringle and even Brown are having better results.
