Im glad someone feels the same and im not completely tripping. I remember that a lot last yr too.

Just seems there is always someone waiting for him or a missed block as soon as he gets the rock.

The video for this last gm showed that to be the case more than not.

Which is just insane luck and adds fuel to the fire from the fan base. I hope he gets his feet under him as the year goes on.

That's a good way to think of it and I can't argue with anything you're saying.

But I'm zagging on this one.

If Lyle looked like a stud & was our 2nd best RB in Fall and Mario clearly believes in him - then play him!

I mean - Lyle started vs ND last year after 9 months with no game carries....so what's the difference vs Clemson?

Clemson ranks 97th in Run Defense right now. It's not gonna get any easier than this. Now's the time!

If Lyle was within a hair of breaking some long ones vs CMU then this is the perfect time to get him back on track!

1/6 runs had good blocking and he went for 10+ yards.

1 fumble, completely on him.

I find it interesting how little people have responded to this.

What do people think about these runs? Were the majority of them not set up for failure?

You can go back to the Syracuse game in '24 and the same thing happened. It's uncanny how unlucky he has been when we hand the ball off to him. But at some point (which I think is fast approaching) you have to produce, even if the blocking in front of you isn't top notch.

The blocking for Fletcher at times was downright ugly. Him bouncing off of contact behind LOS or side stepping it.

Do the same for pringle. Then do the same with receiving reps between fletcher and pringle. Finally watch the pass pro reps.

Or better yet completely ignore everything from the CMU game....
 
I rewatched the condensed game and Lyle looks good.. had some decent runs where he showed his burst and power. Just needs to knock the dust off but the physical talent and potential is obvious. I don’t see Saquon Barkley.. I think Ezekiel Elliot is a better comparison in terms of running style.

Homie is super talented. Can’t catch a break. Even if the arrest was self inflicted. Hope he keeps his head up and it works out. Otherwise **** he’s gonna ball at SMU
 
Crazy how fan bases turn on players if they struggle/don’t live up to fans expectations. Lyle just needs to see the ball go through the hoop in real games, I believe. Talent is clearly there, he just needs to play free and tote that hoe. I’m sure he sees the chatter online too, and that **** always in the back of your mind. Hoping youngin balls out because we need his talent.

Even DMoney said this - and you're 100% correct

Last year before "he was hurt" became the universally accepted Lyle excuse - DMoney said Lyle was healthy but was throwing out theories like
"Maybe it's the OL, or play calling (Lyle likes plays that take longer to develop), or he just lost confidence, or he wasn't getting enough carries to get in a rhythm".

Then DMoney faced reality for a brief and said "I don't know....maybe it's because they don't tackle in practice....."

But then he was like - Nahhhhhhh he plays like Saquon Barkley!
 
Lmao on pod today @DMoney and Mike saying Lyle is prob best pass catching option and best in open field over Pringle? … and D saying Mallory is too as far as natural catching…. My god, do yall even watch our RBs on pass plays?

Bro this is year 3. If there is always a new excuse….

It’s put up or shut up time. He has like 3-4 games where staff is absolutely getting him on the field possibly as our primary 3rd down back it seems, he will have opportunities. If he doesn’t max them out this month, how many more chances does he deserve. This is his chance here

Trust me bro, he saw it on Greentree in shorts. Saquon 2.0 is also supposedly the best RB in CFB per Mike Ryan.

The one with his speed a few years ago who transfered to SMU and not sure about now . He’s prob are fastest rb . Just guessing by looks and explosiveness . I’m sure has the clock numbers . Football speed > clock

High ankle the year he was supposed to have the mic and arrested/suspended this year…if he played fully last year I would agree, but let’s see how it plays out.
