Jordan Lyle? (Is not hurt)

While I agree in this game, it was his first game back, dude. Give him some time to get his legs underneath him.
But this was Lyle at his best

FR - 4.8 YPR - but he was a Freshman
SO - 7.3 YPR - but he was hurt
JR - 7.5 YPR - but he was rusty

Like I said - there's a thin line between "reasons" and "excuses"

Let’s see how it looks in a few games. I for one am rooting for him because we need him. We need his explosiveness out there and his ability to block out there.

I know Lyle is high on the list of players taking non-stop heat (with SJ and Damari), but i have a question.

Does it seem like Lyle has been extremely unlucky on his runs? I feel like he has an un blocked defender meeting him basically when he touches the ball every time.

Would love if someone good with YouTube or tech cab create a cut up of his carries last gm.
It def felt like that last season. I will check out his carriers from cmu

I just see it different is all. IMO Lyle simply isn't very explosive (never was).

We didn't "need" Lyle last year. We were actually better off giving his 5-7 carries a game to Fletcher/Pringle/Brown. And IMO we'd be better off redistributing Lyle's carries to Fletcher/Mallory/Pringle this year.

I do think any RB (Lyle included) can have a nice carry or game here and there if given enough chances.

And while I don't think it's good for the team - I am in "f it, this "Lyle is a Stud" hole has been dug so deep let's give him a chance to get out of it" mode.

So I say keep giving Lyle 5+ carries a game for the next 3-4 games and let's see how it goes. Give the people what they want!

OK, then we need his blocking out there. Last year we had Brown and that’s why you didn’t notice. But this year without Brown, we need Lyles strength in the block game out there. Now we have a difference of opinion on his explosiveness because I think he’s very explosive, but regardless, we need his blocking.

Im glad someone feels the same and im not completely tripping. I remember that a lot last yr too.

Just seems there is always someone waiting for him or a missed block as soon as he gets the rock.

The video for this last gm showed that to be the case more than not.

2025 VT / Pitt / Texas A&M / Ohio St games - Pringle had 14 pass pro snaps to Brown's 3

But fair enough - if Lyle doesn't run well he'll still get snaps the rest of the year because his pass blocking will be that important.

If 6 carries this year isn't enough to make a fair assessment of Lyle, what are you thinking a fair number would be? 30? 40? 50?

I personally would like to see 20-30 carries from Lyle in the next 3 games.

For me, it’s not snaps, it’s just games played. What I saw during fall camp was that he was by far our second best running back, but this time away from the team will need to get ironed out during games played. So I think after the Pitt game, we’re gonna have a little better idea about what Lyle will give us this year.

I agree— I’m rooting for him and want him to get his shine on— but I’m kinda looking at it and his window is closing— and there’s no real explanation….
Lots of truly talented players flame out— situational in many cases.
He’s got a steep climb ahead and I’m not counting on him…
Tho I’m willing to be happily surprised if the light goes “on” too

Agree, 100%! It’s now or never for Lyle and there’s no denying that.

Tick tock goes the clock…. Like grains of sand in the hour glass

I hear you - but snaps & games played aren't going to tell us if he's an effective runner, right? He needs carries for that.

So what I'm asking is if 6 carries isn't enough, "about" how many carries do you feel would be fair?

I want Lyle to get 20-30 carries over the next 3 games. I feel like that would be fair.

The dude that everyone keeps on sleeping on is CWH. I’ve been saying it since last season. Give the young man more carries in meaningful games and he will open up some eyes. In my opinion, CWH, Pringle and Mallory are our most explosive (PAUSE) backs.

Fletcher is a wrecking ball and tough as nails, but doesn’t possess the burst (PAUSE), vision or speed that the other backs have.

Oh Ok, 10 carries minimum. 10 to 12. He’s Right there on the cusp of making some serious home run type runs in the game against CMU.

Fair enough but as I look at the schedule I’m not sure there’s 10 reps available for him…. Just a reality as we enter the ACC schedule…
He’ll get his reps somehow but not sure who they take off the field versus Clemson, FSU, Pitt & UNC unless he makes a splash

That’s why he needs to show out man. It’s now or never for him.. if he’s only gonna be getting 5 to 10 touches per game. We need to see that explosion. I saw it during fall camp, but it’s a different thing on game day.

Lyle got a catch on our 1st & 2nd series vs CMU

That's after being rusty from missing the last 7 games last year and 1st 3 this year.

So the coaches plan is clearly to get Lyle some touches early & often.

Let's feed him!

Won’t be this weekend they will leave nothing to chance depending on how we perform early-/ if it’s a rock fight or e’re up by fewer than 3 scores I wouldn’t expect to see him…. This isn’t some rehabilitation program… no umbrage towards Jordan but he had a very expensive ride trying to outrun the cops— and very inopportune timing…

At this level that can be the difference b between making it and not

Imagine no legal issues— he’d have gotten a ton of carries to dust off all that rust. But he put himself in that place.

I feel for the kid- but… he made his bed
