Jordan Lyle? (Is not hurt)

I see no mention of missed blocks by certain backs, getting QB sacked/hit and all. Based on that its worse togive up your body and get in way of osu blitzer than actually miss block completely and get QB sacked..

I think some of y’all are way too quick to write Jordan Lyle off.
First off, Mark Fletcher is a tremendous back. He’s RB1 right now and I don’t think anybody is arguing that.
But let’s remember something. Coming out of camp last year, who was the starting running back in that first game? Jordan Lyle.
Then he gets a really bad high ankle sprain. He tried to tough it out and come back, but anybody who has watched somebody deal with a high ankle sprain knows that can linger for a LONG time. He clearly wasn’t the same back when he came back, and eventually he basically had to shut it down.
Fast forward to this year. Before the suspension, Lyle was right back in the conversation and pushing for that starting role again during camp.
That tells me something. The coaches see this dude every single day. We don’t. They see him in practice, they see him in the weight room, they see him in pass protection, they see how he runs between the tackles, and they see things that we never get to see on Saturday.
Now the guy finally gets back on the field, gets what, six carries? And some people are already ready to say he’s never going to be the guy we thought he could be? Come on man.
Here’s the bigger thing people are missing. What happens if Fletcher twists an ankle and misses three games? What happens if he gets banged up and suddenly you need somebody to carry the ball 18-20 times?
THAT is why you don’t just write off a Jordan Lyle. He has the size, speed and power to run between the tackles. He can block. He has the physical tools to be a guy you can lean on and potentially be a bell cow if you need him to be.
You need guys like that in your running back room. You’re literally one bad play away from Lyle having to become a major part of this offense. And if that happens, having a talented back who has already competed for the starting job could be the difference between your offense continuing to roll and your season taking a completely different turn.
And another thing I respect about him: he could’ve easily hit the portal. After the injury, after losing his spot, after everything that happened, he could’ve gone somewhere else looking for carries.
He stayed at Miami. So instead of trying to run the kid off after six carries, I’m glad he’s still here. Because we may get to November and be VERY happy Jordan Lyle decided to stick around.

the only reason I think people are disappointed in JL is because the hype on these very forums. He is a decent back with straight line gas. He is a depth guy imo nothing wrong with that but his ranking makes it bad. It’s that simple
