There seems to be a debate on this board that behind Martinez, there is not a single back on the roster, that is healthy, that can be a playmaker.

In my opinion Jordan Lyle will be the 2nd best RB on this roster and that’s including a healthy Mark Fletcher. As a senior, he ran for 1,376 and 21 TDs on 10.6 yards per carry, while catching 13 passes for 177 yards and 1 TD, against very good competition. Coming in at 6-0 205 he has more than enough size to handle physicality of this level of football.

On3 #1 RB in the class of 2024 https://x.com/On3Recruits/status/1752482008716976144

In his senior highlights, you see a back with great vision, amazing balance, game breaking speed, and a physical running style who never goes down on first contact.https://www.hudl.com/video/3/15321847/657a65907bdd2a0bfcd4e9e9

Look at the balance

Runs the DB over then runs away from the rest of the team

Lyle is a beast

It certainly does seem that there is a good chance Lyle far out plays the initial expectations. He looks like the type of back who will develop into a big strong physical runner with exceptional vision, contact balance and deceptive speed. There's a great NFL comp for what I'm thinking of but I can't quite pull it out of my brain right now. Suggestions welcome.

We have plenty of options behind Martinez, but they’re just young. Chris Johnson has world class speed, probably the fastest player in the conference and Wheatley-Humphrey is cat quick and they both had comparable numbers to Lyle in HS.

RB is definitely a position where a true freshman can come right in and excel. Usually the biggest concern with freshman RBs isn't how well they can run the ball, but how well they learn the blocking schemes and are able to pick up the blitz.

Coaches love Fletcher. He's just got to be healthy and a bit more consistent. I'd love to see CJJ at least have some package plays.
Im really gonna look at Dawson sideways if his only way to get playmakers the ball is that same west virginia pitch pass the destroyed clemson with in OB. This guy has to be more innovative, heck IDGAF if he out right steals plays (the BEST do it!) The dolphins are RIGHT DOWN the street and they just had achane run primarily on edge for NFL record yards per carry..

Get that speed in SPACE, I know he isnt a known commodity and more like watered down distant cousin of air raid tree but cotdam..

Crazy the way people have already written off CJJr.
I think it's more how's he gonna be used gotta get the speed in space not running up the middle everytime he gets the ball wondering why he's averaging 3 ypc. It's the OC Dawson has the players. Gotta get em space would have liked to see it in the spring game. I hope he shows out whats crazy is I sit here thinking show I can get his 98 speed involved in ncaa football lol up to Dawson really

The Dolphins run an outside zone rushing attack. We run an inside zone.
