2027 Jordan Karhoff 4* TE from Columbus, OH (St. Francis de Sales HS) Commits to VTech

I don’t understand the Franklin hype AT ALL.

PSU ended up worse off by hiring him.

Vandy continued success without him.
False statement - James Franklin went 9-4 in back to back season at Vandy prior to leaving for PSU. Since then? Vandy went:

- 3-9
- 4-8
- 6-7
- 5-7
- 6-7
- 3-9
- 0-9
- 2-10
- 5-7
- 2-10
- 7-6
- 10-3

It took them 11 seasons to having a winning record....

I think he’s in a job - on a level he can maximize his abilities in. The expectation at VT is to be tough, scrappy and competitive. They can’t compete head on for the top rated 5 star type players so they have to have great evals and competent coaching.

He’s a really good identifier of talent and recruiter. Reminds me of Frank Beamer that way. Dude would land a class of 25 three stars who were “lunch pail” types who played well together due to solid coaching. I think that’s where he’ll get them to again.

Different expectation at PSU. Just my opinion as someone who lived amongst the VT and UVA fans and alums for years in Virginia.

A lot of talk here like we have no talent on the room or coming. Briggs and Mueller are gonna be good. DeRoche is good. We're doing fine there. Would like to grab another but we're not in terrible shape now.

Fair enough. Can’t argue that with that supporting data. Guess I just never cared enough to research because he’s literally done nothing except beat SMU and Boise State.

I should have stated something differently.

I agree with this. Beamer is a perfect trajectory but I also remember half of this board saying these same things about another VT not long ago as well in Justin Fuente.

Yeah I thought he would be good there so I’m likely guilty as charged. He has better experience than Fuente did so I think that’s one thing but we’ll see. I thought DeBoer would be good at bama and he’s just not the best fit there.

I remember having these discussions with you.

I don't hate DeBoer and I think DeBoer has talent, I just don't think he and Alabama are right for each other.

Pretty much. I have said I think he could go to Oregon or USC and have success. Those are the places he belongs…. He resonates better on the west coast I think.

They could say what they want..they were worst off than we were as far as money towards the program...they are a feew shorts years on barely having merch for players i kid u not. and that as a nike school.

What money is at that school?. They probably shot their wad signing Franklin. Unless its some boosters that we dont know about...they just moving some of the school student money im guessing toward s the football program
Not saying they gonna be Texas Tech or A&M but we had discussion few days back and like mentioned, Franklin wasnt going unless they found some money for him.. He can get talent to ****** Vandy, he can carve role in ****** ACC..

Virginia Tech has received a historic $75 million donation, with the majority directed toward athletics, the school announced Thursday.

The record donation, made anonymously by a four-generation Virginia Tech family, is set to go toward multiple initiatives -- including the fundraising portion of the recently approved $229 million investment in athletics over the next four years.

In addition, the donation includes unrestricted funds to be used at the discretion of the athletics director, and additional support through Hokie Ventures, a nonprofit corporation approved earlier this week as a way for Virginia Tech to support revenue generation and strategic investment.

Virginia Tech has made it a priority to boost its investment and support of football -- including the hire of James Franklin last November. In December, Virginia Tech received an anonymous $20 million donation toward athletics, which had been its largest to date until now.

The Hokies have not won 10 games in a season since 2016 and have increased their investment to try and get their football program back to national prominence during a rapidly changing time in collegiate athletics.

"Football is the front porch of the University, and sustained investment is critical to competing for championships at the highest level," Franklin said in a statement. "This generosity provides the resources necessary to recruit, develop and support elite student-athletes while positioning Virginia Tech Football for long-term success."
