That’s the look of focus we need
So he staying?
Not sure. I know he utilizes a lot of Quarters and some Cover-3 mixed in. CB technique for both of those coverages is relatively the same. But WITHIN THOSE COVERAGE SCHEMES are different preferences for CB play. Some coaches prefer a bail technique, which plays more like true zone (covering an area of grass), and some coaches prefer a "MOD" technique, which is an acronym for "Man On Deep" and is basically like off-man coverage. It's technically zone, but if the outside WR runs anything with a vertical stem/release the CB covers him man-to-man. (think hitch, dig, post, comeback, etc)@Coach Macho
Thank you for that. Could you explain to me why Hetherman has been playing his CBs in so much off coverage and zone? I've asked several others but nobody seems to care to respond. I would appreciate it. Thank you.
Much rather have Backers play edge than pass rushers move to LBDon’t mind him at edge and see if he can put on necessary weight to play the field side in two years and in the meantime bea special teams asset
6 times the charm? This guy has shut down his recruitment like 5 times now

This is a more aggressive approach to playing zone. (and is my personal preference)
I'm not a fan of the bail technique as a base because it leaves your CB's susceptible to in-breaking routes (slants, digs), hitches and comebacks.
I don't know what Miami's approach is, or when they use it, but personally I/we only bail our CB's situationally. (i.e. offense is inside the 15 yard line and I'm expecting a corner route from an inside WR)

I love Hetherman. My favorite defensive coach that has come through here in forever.TrumpyCane would like to know if you're a fan of him, we know the resultds have been great but how do you compare him to our previous DCs?

Cool topic brother. I know **** about **** but sometimes it feels like it gets blown out of proportion (not by you just in general) because we notice when it doesn’t work@Coach Macho

I'm a football nerd who wants to learn so that is mainly why I ask. I agree the defense has played excellent. I was curious if Hetherman was doing it to protect another position in coverage or if is his schematic preference.Cool topic brother. Overall defense has worked much more often than it hasn’t but it does seem strange at times
One thing I like about Dawson is he’s very candid so I like to hear his side of things. Haven’t noticed as much with Heatherman but I think the defense has played so well after last year no one really has anything difficult to ask
