Jon Richt is one of the 9 coaches

Nobody knows whether or not this is a good move by Richt. Hiring a son happens quite often in coaching. Not even newsworthy, especially with his resume (prior coaching experience in both college/nfl) and having played the position himself. Judging by similar circumstances, it usually turns out to be a great decison.

There is plenty of coaches out there who dont have fathers as coaches. So i'd say its believable...

The point flew over your head. Those coaches have to work their way up on merit. What the **** has jon richt ever done? Nothing besides being born to mark richt

He's been an assistant for major college programs and NFL teams for a long time. The next step was position coach. It may not be an exciting hire but the guy hasn't been working at McDonald's for years. Richt wanted the QB's coached his way

lmao excuse me? assistant what? cuz he has never been an assistant COACH. he was a fkin quality control assistant and a coaching assistant, none of those two jobs qualify as COACH.

and for a long time? where do you come up with this stuff? he was with his dad at UGA for like 1 year and he has only been at buffalo for one year. how does that qualify as a long time. man, stop reaching! he is a nobody and you are obviously biased lmao "assistant at major college programs and NFL teams for a long time" lmao where did you pull that info out of? your ***?

I was wrong about the length of time he spent at Georgia but those are positions coaches hold BEFORE becoming a position coach. It's the natural order. Do you expect these guys to stay at their current positions forever? No he's been a staff assistant and now he's a position coach being trained by a good HC. If he does a good job he'll move up to being an OC. This isn't the end of the world. It's quite normal. Right can't devote the time he wants to QB coaching so he picked the guy that has been trained to his way of doing things.

dude stop reaching. you just keep making it worse and worse. first you say he's been a coach "for years in college and the nfl"....now you come up with another excuse after completely exagerating and misrepresenting his resume.

you admitting that you were wrong is an understatement..lmao he has been a quality control assistant for only 2 years, one with his father. quality control assistant!! not even a freakin co-safety coach or some other crap. your just being a homer, right now he does not have the qualifications for the job. im not saying its the end of the world, im just calling it what it is: NEPOTISM

Guess Jon Richt must have had a family member working for the Buffalo Bills too. No way a kid that's grown up his entire life raised by a high level coach and undoubtedly exposed to others that have also coached at an advanced level could have picked up anything useful towards developing his own coaching methodology. Impossible...

dont be stupid...you dont think he got that job bc of his daddy? mark richt coached at UGA for 15 years which means he has plenty of NFL connections (players and coaches)...no way in **** he gets that job if his last name isnt richt get real. man the slurpage in this thread is through the roof.

Oh yeah because, of course, you've been exposed to Jon Richt and have intimate knowledge of his coaching abilities to the point that you can determine whether or not he's qualified to be an assistant coach, right? So stupid. You have no idea what your talking about because you've never seen the guy coach a day in your life and would probably not have any idea what you were looking at even if you had. You're a habitual message board complainer (practiced in the art of b!tching about decisions you know little to nothing about), not a member of Korn Ferry. Stick to what you do best..

SLURPER ALERT...dam you are defending this hard. dude i dont have to know jon richt to know that he got this job because of his father. he doesnt have the resume nor the qualifications. there are tons of more deserving coaches out there. he might do become a great coach, who knows? all i am saying is that this is pure NEPOTISM. he got the job cuz of his gotdam daddy, stop making it look like he has done anything to earn it.

lol....."Defending this hard" because I pointed out that you really don't have any intimate knowledge of the guys actual coaching acumen? Ok... Please tell me why you believe the guy is not qualified to be a college qb coach. What about his coaching style/ability don't you like? Is it all because he doesn't have enough jobs listed on his coaching bio? Is it because he doesn't relate well with the players? Is he just plain stupid?

Please, share with us this special knowledge you seem to have about this guys coaching abilities and why you say he's not qualified for the job. Stop keeping it a secret. We're all dying to know...

lmao yall are crazy. everybody hated coley as our qb coach and wanted him gone (not saying i agree or disagree)...and now are championing jon richt as an up and coming coach ignoring the fact he got the job bc of daddy. sorry, but james coley is 1000 times more qualified to be the QB coach than richt. so if you thought coley sucked, you sound like a hypocrite trying to boost the resume of a 2year quality control assistant. isnt this the same thing people killed hs coaches for? "they dont have experience, they are not qualified", but fkin jon richt is? at least hs coaches have experience as actual COACHES.

What are the qualifications for being a position coach?

apparently being the head coach's son

there are 1000 more deserving and qualified people for the job. like i said he might be the next vince lombardi i dont know. im just pointing out that he got the job bc the coach is his daddy aka NEPOTISM, not because of anything he has done as far as his actual coaching career. if you disagree with that i dont know what to tell you, you are a blind homer.

Love how people making all types of excuses and reaching to defend what is a clear cut case of nepotism.

Do people actually believe he would be coaching anywhere if mark richt wasnt his daddy?

I dont believe he would be coachinhg HERE if Mark wasnt his father.. but to insinuate that he wouldnt be coaching anywhere or that he wouldnt be a coach IF Mark wasnt is father is just ridiculous. What if..what if.. what iffffffffffffff

Quality control is the entry level coaching position. But who the **** cares. Coley is more qualified but he sucks. Richt wants QB's coached in a way that gets the job done so what better way than hiring a guy who has come up under himself. The QB's will be trained Mark Richt's way so who cares if Coley was more qualified.

canesinsight slurper brigade:

HS coach x is not qualified. i rather have someone with actual experience who is proven. who cares that HS coach x is a proven winner and has connections with all the major recruits, this is not HS. we need someone with a proven track record.

In the same breath: Jon richt has been a quality control assistant for 2 years and his daddy is an awesome HC. he has the potential and is qualified to take this job, not just bc daddy is HC.

You're right. You just don't know because you couldn't possibly know something that you have no intimate knowledge of. If, like you say, you just "don't know", then how did you ever originally determine that he "just got the job because he's the coaches son" and, now, that there are 1000 more deserving coaches than him? Why are you making conclusions about things that you admittedly don't know anything about?

you check the bold, are you having problems comprehending? if mark richt wasnt his father he never would be a coach foh. he got his first "quality control job" thanks to his daddy at UGA. or are you telling me that teams are knocking on his door to offer him positions anywhere else?

HE GOT THE JOB BECAUSE OF DADDY point blank

and lmao @ "a guy who has come up under him". he was his quality control assistant for ONE year. how does that qualify as "coming up" under him. you make it sound like he been there for years. he is in his 2nd year of this quality control assistant thing, slow your roll.

Never hire someone you can't fire.

Remember when that was a mantra, here?

you have to really be a blind homer to argue with me on this one. How the **** can you not see that he got the job because of his daddy? is it just a coincidence he gets his first coaching gig at a school where his dad is HC? this is NEPOTISM and anybody that sees it for anything else is either blind homer or just straight up slow at comprehending common sense things in life.

cant believe this many people are actually trying to act like he didnt get the job bc of his daddy lmao

Who gives a ****?

Following a very similar path to Mike Bobo under Richt. He is here because of his father, but that doesn't mean he can't coach. Also, there is nothing wrong with it. He wants his son to coach with him. I would want the same if I was in his position. If he is as successful as Bobo, it will be all good.
