One of the keys to Miami beating Texas A&M and honestly making a real playoff run is JoJo Trader and Lofton

I am not saying JoJo needs 8 catches for 150 yards. We’ll gladly take it, but that’s not what we need from him against Texas A&M or during a playoff run.

What JoJo gives you is situational value. We’ve all seen the film and the practice clips. Great feet, polished route runner, one handed catches and creates separation.

With Malachi Toney being a freshman All American and arguably the best slot receiver in the country, playoff defenses are absolutely going to scheme him. Brackets, leverage, safety help. Elko isn’t letting one guy beat him. That’s going to create opportunities elsewhere.

That’s where JoJo comes in.

He might only see 3 to 4 targets in this game, but those targets matter

A key catch on 3rd and medium to keep a drive alive

A contested catch when coverage is tight

A route that pops open because the defense is tilted toward Toney

You only need a handful of plays like that to swing a playoff game.

Same idea with Lofton. We’re not asking him to dominate. But if he can win three critical matchups against linebackers. One on a key 3rd down. One in the red zone. One off play action. That goes a long way toward winning this game or putting A&M away late.

Can they play the Robert Horry, Steve Kerr or John Paxton role? When their number was called they drilled the shot! We need Jojo and Loften to do the same for Miami.

Like the concept, but is Jojo going to get many snaps? if we 3 wide, isn’t it Toney, Daniel’s and Marion? I’m actually thinking a big game could be there for Marion

Been lowkey saying Lofton being used in motion and showing up as a threat especially with Toney as a decoy is causing another issue for the defenses

Pitt got absolutely clowned on his TD play

Just stop splitting Bauman out wide and using him in motion literally no one gets fooled by that ****
For real. Would love to have a 4th wr out there and force the defense to respect the entire field. I think you could get numbers if you ran out of that too.

Having 4 wrs would likely force A&M to take off one of their LBs and put out another DB, which wouldn’t be ideal from their standpoint. Extra DB means bigger blocking advantage for the Canes.

I could be wrong here but I think/hope we envisioned Lofton being more involved and Bauman being the blocker

Looks like Lofton is finally clicking a bit

When Bauman moves no one cares. When Lofton moves he does create some confusion and it’s probably because DCs are aware that he’s a potential threat (despite my own criticism of him)

I’m probably oversimplifying it but when Toney and Lofton move it’s makes running up the middle easier and we could just use that formation at will and likely be successful

You are correct, Marion., Daniel's and Toney will get the majority of snaps. We expect them to do their thing. But sometime you need those key role players to step up to the moment. We need Jojo to be that key role player when his number is called.

or they could be Pippen who refused to enter on the last play because the ball wasn't designed for him.

I love that play where Lofton slides in motion like he is going to be the lead blocker, then leaks out into the flats. Really hoping to see it utilized on Saturday.

I highly doubt Jojo does that much. We are what we are at this point. He may have a couple catches and it does appear that he's getting slightly more involved now. Lofton is the one who may do some things.

YES

Saw a lot of little wrinkles that we can do several different plays and set up some deep shots

Im sure there was some hesitancy to use Toney too much this year but push comes to shove seems like we said nope just empty the clip

Excited to see more

If Elko figures out how to mitigate Toney, then crown him. I don't see how that is possible with all the different positions, motions and routes he runs. Seems impossible to totally remove him from the game based on how he is used.
