John Jancek

Gratham and Pruitt were no better at Georgia.

A guy like Jancek can kill it in the ACC with Miami talent.

regardless its a "meh" move. all I heard is how we have big splash $ now. if thats true then give me a tidal wave.

Unfortunately I'm not sure there really is a tidal wave available now that Brown and Aranda got scooped, Pruitt went back to Bama, and all the other top DCs became HCs.

Good coach in the SEC, SOS #34 and lost by 5 to Alabama only giving up 19 points.

Ah don't you love anecdotes? His numbers are mediocre across the board, and he's in his third season. Would be an awful hire and fans would hate watching his defense give up over 400 yards a game.

Your probably looking at either a younger unproven guy who you think has upside to be a top DC or guys like jancek who have been solid/good DCs. Despite the fact UM is spending a lot more money we will never out bid the michigans and LSUs for top 5 guys.

Well you do have a point. Still I think we can do better. Dallas's Lb's coach intrigues me because of his connection to Kool.

another thing. why would martinez and jancek leave UT to play for someone who fired them?
the assumption that richt would want martinez because they were teammates goes out the window because kehoe was his center and he canned him

As long as we know were you stand. Based on your logic and 2015 defensive scoring stats, Oklahoma, Clemson, and Michigan State are all "gigantic failures" and have "awful hires" on the defensive side of the ball. We don't know if Jancek is going to be the hire, but there is a lot of hyperbole in your opinions. The hire would be far from a "gigantic" failure.

Stanford held Northwestern to 16 points ... Great defense! We should get Lance Anderson.

Michigan shut them out ... Great defense! Wish we could get a guy like Durkin, or Greg Mattison.

Wisconsin held them to 13 points ... Great defense! Aranda is the best. Wish we could get him.

Tennessee holds them to 6 points and gives them their worst loss of the season ... That's what they were suppose to do. No big deal. The DC was a position coach on an entire defensive staff that was fired, so. Do. Not. Want!

I don't really care either way about getting Jancek. But you guys claiming to "know" he wouldn't do well at Miami really need to get over yourselves. Have your opinions, but please stop acting like they're facts.

Have you heard of this thing called an anecdote????

Wisconsin and Michigan have top tend defenses across the board. Jancek does not. It's really not hard. The man has never coached even a great defense, let alone an elite one, in his life. It's an awful move to make for a team whose HC is also calling plays, and a team coming off its worst 5 year period of defense EVER.

How many times does it need to be said that the man has never fielded a good defense. EVER. You don't hire a guy like that given our current circumstances.

Guy signs up in Jan of 2016 and randomly is jerking off to a mediocre DC and adamant that we hire him. Are you his agent or something? This guy has no business being DC at the U given our current needs. Not that hard folks. Hire a proven elite dude. Don't hire a guy who has been completely average his whole career and then just expect him to magically field top defenses.

Defense will be much improved simply by the subtraction of Dorito and Golden. With a good DC it will come down to personnel and recruiting.

But what do you define as a good DC? I think Dorito and John Lovett have proven that being at Miami doesn't transform you into a great DC.

I mean I wouldn't love it, but Randy Shannon also runs a 4-3 and has at least shown to be able to field consistently dominant defenses. If you are going to make an uninspired hire, at least get one who has had multiple top 10 defenses in his career.

Jancek and BVG are John Lovett type hires. Would be hugely disappointing, and fans would be calling for their heads very quickly.

You're pretty much telling us that there were only 2 Dc's you feel that were worthy and or able to be a DC COach here at Miami... That is extremely shortsighted and lazy.

We hired an offensive HC, with the idea that he would also call plays. The entire premise it to hire an elite DC. If you fail to do that, then you failed. We aren't doing **** here with a defense in the 30s or 40s. It's just reality.

Defense will be much better without Coley calling plays. In case you don't realize it our offense sucked! What were we, last in the country on third down conversions?

When did I ever say we should hire him? I said on the UT side there is talk. I also said "might be good." Again, you use hyperbole. You just make stuff up. He would not be my first second or third choice, but would not be an "awful hire." I am simply discussing what would be a potential hire.At least be truthful in your replies.
