I understand that it is highly unlikely to see Coach Richt fired. That being said if this loosing streak continues anything is possible. Also not unimaginable that this slide continues . Each week games considered easy wins look more and more daunting. I suggested in a post that Del Rio would be a nice mix with the right staff and support staff. A poster suggested John Harbaugh. Think that was brilliant. The Ravens during the early 20s with the help of 2 former canes and hall of famers Ray Lewis and Ed Reed were the canes of the NFL. Nasty physical and unapologetic. Harbaugh is a great in game coach. Superbowl winner and probably will be available in the off-season. Harbaugh with the "Bama" staff structure would be elite for the canes. Tough no nonsense coach who could assemble a great staff. Pipe dream but I think it could work.

Would love to hire John Harbaugh. Don't think that ever happens given that he's likely going to get another NFL job if fired from the Ravens.

Actually I like Ops thinking.

Hes leaving Baltimore.

Maybe he wants to cruise the rest of his career like Saban is.

Wow

So Larry Coker, Randy Shannon, Al Golden, Mark Richt.....John Harbaugh?

Anything stick out that doesn’t seem to fit there?

Harbaugh is an intriguing idea but he’ll sit for a season, collect his 2019 salary, and be an analyst for one of the networks.

He did coach in college from 1984-1997.

Career history
Western Michigan (1984–1987)
Running backs coach & outside linebackers

Pittsburgh (1987)
Tight ends coach

Morehead State (1988)
Special teams coach & secondary coach

Cincinnati (1989–1996)
Special teams coordinator

Indiana (1997)
Special teams coordinator & defensive backs

Extremely doubtful he'd come but I would be so pumped. He'd kick the ****y out of this team and I bet he would recruit like crazy. Total type A that would clean up the ***** *** beta attitude the team has been infected with from Mork.

I think the answer is a NFL minded coach may not be Harbaugh but between the passion and expactations of the fans base. Media who will only give you enough rope to hang yourself you need a guy who could weather the storm also recruiting is different animal. Recruting ratings and stars dont matter in south florida. Recruit great athletes and develop the talent. Need a big type in game decision maker and talent developer. Recruting could be bigger focus for support staff and assistant coaches. Glad handing boosters wont be as big of a deal thanks to the one area coach Richt excelled in. With new facility and new dorms next coach just needs to win games.

Work 1/3 of what you hours you worked in NFL.
Collect checks from the Ravens on top of Miami pay.
Basically retire while still doing what you love.
Brother has passed up chances to go back to NFL muliple years.
Tax break basically coming to Florida.
Literally never leave Miami recruiting.
More time with the Fam.
If fired wouldnt hurt to call and inquire. Many reasons why it might be attractive for an ex NFL coach.

Basically just saying administration needs to stop veiwing this job as any another college job. The successful coaches at Miami all had NFL aspirations. Ran the team with more of a NFL mindset. We hired a guy who wants to coach here for the rest of his career when we need to hire a guy we have to beg or pay to stay after 4 or 5 years. Guys who view this job as opportunity to get in the league. What better guy to sell I can put you in the NFL than a guy who has either been there or wants to be there. Thats the point in trying to make. Richt viewed himself as a gift to Miami. Need a guy who sees Miami as a gift. At least an amazing stepping stone on his career path.

Grab a Vrabel from Houston before he gets the Tenesee job. Grab a Bill Obrien like Penn State did. Hungry guy with something to prove.
