John Campbell to the Bench?

Campbell,Reed,Hillery and Herbert were highly touted coming out of HS. I had so much hope for the future of our OL with these guys. WTF happened? Bad evaluations? Coaching? Smh.

I wouldn’t say highly touted. Reed was an All-American so he is the biggest disappointment of the group so far. Campbell was a 3 star. Hillery got a late bump to 4 stars but his offer sheet wasn’t impressive and everyone knew he was a big project. Herbert was a 4 star but he has been injured since high school. O-line recruiting has been average at best

How? He clearly performed better in practice . All three Miami boards have been reporting that Clark is very smart and came in way ahead of many of the other guys. I don't see a down side to this.

Clark carries his weight well, so that helped him in terms of being physically ready.

Hillery was a composite 3 star

It's a long season and all of these guys will continue to develop.

Were gonna start two true freshman on the line all year. Best case is that Zion gets off the ball quicker and Clark performs well. I think we need Scaife at tackle. And Clark getting game experience is gonna help when Donaldson leaves. A returning starter in Clark and you plug Reed in for Donaldson. It’ll also give Campbell another year, maybe 2 to figure it out behind Scaife. That should be our lineup, it’s just up to Barry to get em going

With how bad Campbell looked at OT against Florida it's good that the coaching staff have been proactive. Scaife can move inside to OG in the NFL, we need him at OT.

I believe that most OLine coaches are like many coaches and are measurement horrs. Got to have beef to run block but have to have quick feet to pass block. I think that is why Scafie did not start at OT.

You can not develop quick feet. You can make your feet quicker but not quick for big time college football. Either you have them or you don’t.

3 year project for a good line. Got to recruit good players and then need 2 more years to develop them.

How much are talking about this if Thomas catches the TD?

It’s not Barry’s fault that Tommy Kennedy is the worst olineman to ever have a D1 scholarship... he came from the NFL, I’m sure he knows how to develop players give it time.

The other guards and tackles are young themselves maybe they’ll make a bigger jump in the future.

Jon Richt also came from the NFL.

Is it his job to develop and coach the players in his room?

It is, but I think his point was that Barry didn’t recruit these OL, the upper class men clearly aren’t good enough to start over the freshmen, and I believe Coach Barry has more faith in moving Scaife to RT where he held his own last year. If Clark can solidify the RG spot, we finally have the makings of not only a decent OL, but one we can build off of for years.

It's not about who recruited who. The best guys play and clearly the upperclassmen brought in by the previous staff are friggin garbage.

Can Scaife play LT? Could try Donaldson at LG and Scaife at LT to have a very strong left side (and better blindside protection)
Put Clark at RG and Zion at RT, and give them help with TE or extra blocker.

If the right side is Clark and Scaife, you are spreading the strength/weakness across the line. However, think it would be easier for the OC to only have to worry about one side of the line.

Donaldson will not leave early. We should return all of the starters and back ups.

Hopefully with the experienced gained this season, we can start dominating upfront next season.

How TF is another true freshman the best possible option on this oline? I’m not sold on Barry, man. How do we not have other options ready to go?
Why is young guys winning jobs a bad sign on him? He supposed to make guys who didn’t do **** before do **** now?
