tweet makes no sense to me either. people involved do believe they will wait on richt..what he **** is he talking about. if they are involved why do they need to believe they will wait. wouldn't they know they would wait??

I get it, I really do...Richt is that much more desirable a candidate than the others. OK, fair enough. But don't be a beta and put yourself in a position to be made a fool of.
Give the man a deadline, if he wants the job he'll take it, if he's unsure or if he doesn't want the job he won't. But we can't be stuck in a perpetual state of limbo when there are others (Butch and presumably Mullen) who have indicated that they want the job also.
Ask Shaq's dad how long they really want to wait to find out who will be coaching his son for the next few years.

I mean, people say stuff like this on message boards, but--assuming he's high on your list--what if Mark says in response (or beforehand) something like "I need the weekend to consider my options and talk with my family" ... you're telling me you just say 'too bad we're going in another direction' just to be "alpha"? C'mon man.

This has to mean Mullen is out. Unlike the rest of our candidates, he's an employed coach. His interview with Miami is now public knowledge, and every hour that goes by it hurts his recruiting and angers the Miss St fans, boosters, and administration.
He'll either need to be hired here or come out and publicly reaffirm his commitment to Miss St. I expect him to "withdraw" from consideration soon. This can't dangle above his head, he doesn't have the luxury of being a jobless homeless vagabond like the other 3.

If this goes past today/tonight, then I agree Mullen will withdraw. That leaves Richt and Schiano depending on who you believe with Butch a distant last option. Yikes! Just sunk in that it very well might be Schiano!

Withdraw and go back to Mississippi State. He's still employed there, and believe it or not, he's the best coach they've ever had.

Unfortunately I have to agree with this. It would be one thing if Richt was considering Miami, Alabama, or USC. But he's right now considering Miami, Virginia, or taking a year off. In Virginia, they'll hold a parade for him if he gets 9 wins over there. Here, that's a disappointment, even after a decade of irrelevance. At least Butch has title or bust in his approach.
He doesn't want to be there.

Why in the **** are we waiting for Mark Richt to make a decision. You are either in or not. Move on a sign Butch, and get the recruiting started. Now, even if Butch is the fall back plan, the BOT and administration looks silly. I feel the entire interview process on this has been botched from the beginning. Other universities are snapping up who they want without search firms, while we wait to see if a FIRED coach wants to coach at Miami. That in itself is his decision. You have Butch that is fired up about the Miami vacancy but yet Blake still does not want him. If they do not get this right, this could be the death of our program, and I do not feel comfortable leaving it in the hands of this rookie.
