Joe Rose Show 8 am

MARIO:

-19 presumed starters/ contributors missed spring ball- Fall camp is going to look very different from spring when these guys are back and the new guys mix in
- team is really buying into the demanding culture that has been put to them
-no room for bs....
- ton of momentum in recruiting. Mario said he feels like another wave is about to come....
- Elite players are buying in to the vision
- On his staff: patience in the process is key. All of the staff have seen Miami when they were good and now want to be a part of what can be
-Feels really good about the OLine right now... Mirabal teaching fundamentals that will allow them to play a "power game"
Mario says he is Mirabal's "GA"

- On Zion: has some elite level traits, especially when it comes to "recoverability" if he's knocked off his stance
Says Zion is an "elite human being" and a really top level chef....

-On NIL: positive thing for the players. Just needs more clarity & guidelines. Notes that there are some really prominent alumni who have been helpful
"some guys are going to do better with NIL and that's just life"

- On TVD: Leads by example. He's unselfish but is very demanding of himself and his teammates... Totally a team first guy who doesn't care about the personal accolades..

- Mario says he is going to be very demanding of the supporting offensive cast around TVD. Says they have to get better = they all know what is expected of them..

- Weight room, recruiting and the portal has helped make the trenches bigger and stronger. Proof will be when they get on the field: weights in the weight room don't push back.

- Says Jason Taylor has been an invaluable addition to the staff in terms of knowledge and teaching. Mario mentioned the rules governing analyst roles are going to be changing and that will free up JT to help even more...

You can tell not having a better season with Justin Herbert irks Mario even though they still won the Rose Bowl. Big reason was Oregon's supporting cast was too inconsistent. Mario seems determined to not let that happen with Tyler.

WR's was shocking, "Got to show up / I will be very demanding" is code for what? ummm... not good...

Answer 2 tight end sets, who can get separation on LB's / draw safeties down and then hit deep, and yes Gattis is that man. (Fads to Young)

Sorry, trust / love Mario however not sold on O-line yet, imagine Nelson out (see pic), scary at tackles, depth is limited, only 7 ATM (need 10)

Interesting comments by TVD on NIL saying how high school kids who have never played a down are commanding big money. I'm happy for the kids and their families. They is certainly lots of cash to go around. However we do know hat money does to some people. When you get paid there can be a lack of motivation, a lack of hunger. We will see.

I don't think we should be anywhere near the favorites to beat Texas A&M but that's one of those games that you just feel could be a trap game for them. I think Miami is going to make a leap that people aren't going to anticipate. The talent has been there, they just need coaching.

They’re a really talented team and they’ll be a test for our guys but would be awesome to come out with a win for sure.

Nelson is not out, Mario confirmed he will be ready for Fall camp.

And yes they are seeing at WR what we all are seeing from spring and last year: talent, but vastly underperforming and inconsistent. They need to improve and be much more consistent. They need to get it together because they have the talent to do so. So it is good news that the staff is very demanding, some previous staffs would of said "everything is great, guys are really flying around, very happy" F that!

I wouldn’t say it’s a trap game for Texas 8&4 because they’ll be ready and fired up for us. We’re not gonna catch them napping, they’re gonna give us their absolute best and they’ll be fired up to do it.

This is far from being a trap game for them.

Didn't say Nelson was out, but imagine either Nelson or Rivers out (again) = ugly. depth

Point on scary is WR's are STILL ummm .. not good, AFTER 6 months with all the DEMANDING, high level coaching etc. **** bad..
Getting Young speaks volumes. Can you add TP in the fall? not sure with all rules / waivers etc. would not be surprise me to add a #1WR if possible and a even a top OT for depth. (F Matt Shodell and his diss on TP))
