Joe Jackson declares for draft

I havent seen Rousseau play, but I have a hard time believing he is going to take on double teams as a true soph coming off an injury. And again, wasn;t his splash plays in spring ball as an edge rusher? That gets somewhat neutralized at SDE. I have to think its Garvin in Chad's role.
Without knowing if new DC will change gap attack system, he'll be used on that side knifing underneath as much as anything. Our DEs, even in the Chad Thomas role, aren't exactly playing "take on multiple blockers" 2-gap. They're knifing underneath or going upfield. Even Chad Thomas was used on the move and across gaps like crazy. Sometimes too wild.

As for Joe Jackson's prospects, he may slip and go in the 3rd round, but I think he'll be better value there than, say, Charles Harris in 1st round for the Phins. I guess that's not tough to say about a situational pass rusher in the 1st round. Smh.

Some of you creeps who tweet at recruits need to get on Bogle about this. He can potentially start right away.

Not at 200-215 pounds he wont. Bogle isnt that guy. If im our coaches im trying to get that Louisville kid at DE to transfer here ASAP. Rousseau will be a rs freshman that played small school ball he will need time to get equipped. He will be the goods..but needs the seasoning.

Will miss watching him with that U on the side of his helmet, but hope he gets drafted high, gets paid, and succeeds in the NFL so I can continue to watch him do his thing and root for him on Sundays.

Wouldn't mind seeing him line up next to Calais Campbell in DaUUUUUuuuuuvaaallll!

Man, that would be spectacular if he landed in Jacksonville with the Jaguars!

Our defense has some holes to fill. Losing Jackson, Willis, 3/4 of our DB’s. We got some good ones behind them but let’s not freak out on Baker if they aren’t #2 in the nation

Even more reason to get Applewhite or Harrell in here at OC so we can take some of the pressure off of the defense by balancing the ball offensively and scoring points in droves! We do that and I think not only will we improve but we will win 10+ games too

whoever gets hired as Miami's OC, fans need to really slow down and take a realistic look at what the guy will be dealing with and have to work with. he better be able to do more with less and if Diaz hires a guy who is unable to do that, it won't
end well. the elephant in the room is the QB situation combined with a questionable OL --- whoever gets hired is going
to earn every dollar he gets paid. its going to take a **** of a lot more than just throwing the ball all over the field 60-70 times
a game.

I hated that pick so so much when it came down. I wanted TJ Watt or a few other guys instead. Never liked Harris in college.....one trick pony who disappeared in games.

One thing I think we can agree on is that it would’ve been nice to have Joe back. Patchan has a huge role to fill as our No. 3 DE. I’m fact, (again, without the benefit of seeing GR yet), I’d consider using Patchan as SDE and Garvin at WDE on standard down rush downs.

I hoped for a breakout-ish season from Patchan this pat year and didn’t see it. We’ve seen late bloomers on the DL before, so there is still hope (esp with a new S&C coach on the way), but our DE depth is concerning.

I don’t see the quantum leap coming. I think he’s a 4th DE in a top unit. When you slide him into the 3rd spot, I begin to worry about quality of depth. You’re right that Joe Jax returning would have changed the complexion of D. We still have a big hole at DT anyway.

S

All I heard was "I don't know **** about football".

another fifth rounder, sorry, I just don't see higher...

Had to Bump

First off, best of luck to Joe Jackson wherever he ends up; he is a 'Cane and deserves a long and lucrative career.

Now all of you "experts" that negged me into oblivion, including Mr. BS saying I don't know S#!+ about football and others in this thread trying to make me out as a fool...I don't expect a mea culpa (If you know what that means) but I do hope you find your name above and realize that you don't know everything about Football or a host of other topics. Respect others opinions and you will be better for it. Special shout out to Austin, who tried to talk you all off the ledge, but you didn't comprehend his subtle points on what was about to transpire.

Maybe UM players will learn after this year...

Great bump.

I went from thinking he was an eyetest 2nd or 3rd round pick to thinking this is exactly what is going to happen.

Gotta go through the process. His testing was so poor, he is basically on the threshold of being a non-NFL athlete. He's got an uphill climb. Unfortunate. Would have loved him to have come back. As CanesFan79 said...maybe our players will learn this year. I hope he got his degree.

I've been out of the loop a bit but was his testing that poor. Wow than he got poor advice. He should have came back and put more film out.

LoL, this was the smart move for joe, he had to go, he did what he had to do here, and once he starts testing and combine interviews his stock will rise. Not to many defensive ends got a 40yrd pick 6 on they resume. Once teams start seeing how athletic joe is up close and personal, plus how he improved against the run, his stock will go up, he may actually go in the 1st round! He's actually a 1st round talent, joe jackson game is like drafting a good left tackle that you expect to be the starter for tge next 8 to 10yrs when you draft him, that's how solid a pick joe jackson will be viewed as by several teams!
ok

2nd Percentile athlete.

A -2.0 sigma is a non-NFL athlete.

Shame really. I don’t want to comment on his decisions since I have no idea what it all entailed. Obviously having him come back would have been great but, he was productive here so I’m optimistic he can hash out a career in the pros
