Jess Simpson recruiting impact

It looks like he is going to be our new D-Line Coach. I was wondering if anyone had any insight on his ability as a recruiter and coach.

Nothing about that a kid from Buford who's interested in OH St, Notre Dame, and UGA, screams Miami.

Nothing about that a kid from Buford who's interested in OH St, Notre Dame, and UGA, screams Miami.

Besides that his former HC is now coaching in Miami. I assume he was his HC since Simpson coached there until 2016. Also, the guy is a legend in GA and especially at the school he won a bunch of championships with. Not saying the kid will come, but it isn't unrealistic that there will be some interest

Completely out of the box - doesn't follow the general progression anticipated by the plethora of football experts here - but he's apparently got the magic, and the Falcons and now Richt are convinced - he's our man!

I know this is a message board and everyone has an opinion but how can anyone make any sort of judgement on this hire with being privy to who else was available. Maybe this is the best hire from what is out there right now.

I like this hire but, it’s far from the home run hire we were hoping. One big positive is he knows how the recruiting game works from the “other side” having many players go to top program$. Falcons loved the guy. Hoping for another Hartley.

Gus Malzahn had only been a high school coach when he was hired as Arkansas OC. And again Soldinger did alright at Miami after high school.
