Jess Simpson gone.

[brock]

Stroud has MUCH more experience coaching at this level than Simpson and has coached a former number 1 overall pick under his belt at ncstate. He’s a good coach, while Simpson was an up and coming coach and I liked him at Miami he is not irreplacble. We are still going to do what we have done on the dline since manny has been here and that’s play aggressive

[DTP]

sounds coordinated and timed which means it was not a surprise for manny and he had time to find someone apparently to his liking and competent.

Agreed. It sounds like Jess told Manny "hey I'm going to take this NFL offer but I'll wait until you can find a replacement to announce it publicly."

Manny knew this was coming. Hence the hiring of Stroud early on. Simpson probably told Manny hes here unless an NFL team came calling.

You can take this to the bank. Best of luck to Coach Simpson. Stroud will be just fine.

The quick hire means Simpson told many he was leaving for the NFL and gave him time to find someone

[mirvin88]

Is Stroud actually decent as a DL coach? I like him as chief of staff, but Simpson was great.

Had some great lines at NC State

Spring break starts this weekend and then the team comes back for spring ball. Timing is probably planned....

[HEEL919]

People were freaking out when Kool left too, well be good, Strouds resume is solid..

[IcemanArcade]

Let me guess our production is supposed to drop off just like it was meant to drop off last year? Man stfu Manny knows what he wants in a defense and we have our DC, we have the scheme and athletes to eat with our defense every year, Simpson was an amazing hire but going from college ball to the NFL is what usually happens when someone is an amazing hire and has the resume to back it up. If Stroud has any lick of experience, then it only gets better for us.

[who]

After NC State, can anyone tell me why he was on a downward career trajectory? FSU (lowest of lows) to Colorado State to Akron.

[Mr. Dynasty1]

We can’t keep a DL coach anymore

[Sebastianspipe]

Going to the Falcons according to Feldman. Can't blame the guy at all. We will see on Stroud, wish we could have given KP a look this time around. I feel he would fit in great with Manny.

I am persuaded by Pickney.
I too, am OUT on Manny.
Join us.
Sayonara until the next thread that prompts a lurker's response.
It has been an honor.
Don't hate me because Pickney's right!

Edit: - lol. seriously?! troll job did trolling right.

Did it help last year at all with any kid outside of Jalar Holley? No

Bruh relationships take years to manifest. It’s impossible to have a pipeline after one season.

Disappointed to lose Simpson, but he was going to head to the NFL inevitably. Surprised that no one has yet mentioned that with the hire of his replacement, we are looking at a coordinator taking a lesser position coach job, even if it does include the associate head coach title. Just glad to see us bringing in experience at the position coach level and not promoting a GA or something like that.

Just hope this guy can teach like a technician at the position level, he clearly seems to bring some level of strategic competence.

We'll see... But yeah, not going to get too bent out of shape over this. Seems as though it's been handled well and openly and honestly on all sides.

[Redstate12]

That happened quickly or at least it was very hush hush. Recruits seemed to really like Simpson from what I was reading.

Still trying to figure out if Stroud was brought in as an insurance f policy for a situation like this. Think Simpson is an elite teacher/developer of defensive tackles. Stroud seems to be more geared toward defensive ends. Either way Simpson will be missed in my opinion.

TO COACH SIMPSON "THANK YOU AND GOOD LUCK"

[Mark_RichtOC]

We'd have the top coaching staff in the MAC..... #TNM

[ShadowSpring]

Stroud seems to be a **** good replacement.

Best of luck to Coach Simpson, that's a **** of a promotion!!
