June 19: German and linebackers James Burgess and Jeffrey Taylor are arrested in connection with the beating of men's track and field captain Maxwell Voce. German, Burgess and Taylor allegedly broke into Voce's apartment. And German is charged with beating Voce, supposedly after Voce spread rumors that German is . German, who led Miami with 41 receptions for 730 yards last season, has pleaded not guilty. He is facing charges of assault and battery and illegal entry; his court date is Oct. 15. Davis has suspended German for the season. Burgess and Taylor pled no contest to misdemeanor trespassing charges. Burgess was slated to take the spot vacated by middle linebacker Ray Lewis, who gave up his senior year to enter the NFL draft. Taylor is a reserve.
