Jedd Fisch talks about his time at Miami

This guy is a complete head scratcher for me. He didn't play college football and I don't think he even played in high school. Not that playing at a high level is a mandatory prerequisite to coach at a high level, but good luck naming many coaches that didn't at least play D3 college football.

That said, what has this guy done? For real? He's been a career bumblebee, bouncing from one short tenured job to the next. I get this is pretty normal for coaching, but what has he accomplished? I just glanced through his wiki page and it reads like a back alley abortion shop. He got lucky with a stop with the Patriots and was an assistant on the Rams team that lost the Super Bowl. Other than that, he pretty much has sucked. His head coaching record is 17-22; 1-1 at UCLA and 16-21 over three seasons at Arizona, although 10 of those wins came last year.

Here comes the truth serum - F this guy. He sucked at Miami under Coach Necktie and he's a Gator.

Very misleading.

Jedd is a good coach who did well here. I miss him.

The article listed the notable guys he worked with and say something about them. It was the likes off Pete Carroll, Steve Spurrier, Billick, McVay, Harbaugh, ect. Why should Golden be on the list? It isn't a knock on Miami at all. It just Means Al Golden isn't as noteworthy of a mentor as Mike Shanahan.

I have no idea why I have heard this the last few years. I agree with you on Fisch here, but I have no problem with him. I expected him to be UF's next coach, but they may swing at Kiffin now. Now some coaches who didn't play college or NFL football; Mike Leach, Sonny Dykes, Dave Aranda, David Cutcliffe, Hugh Freeze, George O'Leary, Paul Johnson, Charlie Weiss.

I am not going to sit here and tell you that he is the next Saban, I really have no idea how good he is or isn't, but I think to say he sucked at Arizona is unfair considering what the team did the 3 years before he arrived compared to the 3 years he was the HC:

People have revisionist history about Fisch because of how awful Golden was

His offenses were nothing special and inconsistent as ****

That NC State game was perfect example

Amazing 1Q, nothing in the 2nd, finally scored with a minute left in the 3rd, and then offense again in the 4th

13 against KSU
3 against ND
14 against UNC

He was an average OC in TrumpyCanes opinion

Not misleading. If he had a quote about Miami it would have been included.

Putting Kevin Sumlin next to him sort of makes the fat girl look pretty no?

I hear what you're saying. It's why I put the truth serum at the end of my rant. Did he really suck at Miami? Eh, maybe, maybe not. Same concept applies as the Sumlin comparison above, but with Onofrio as the DC, it makes the other coordinator better looking.

More to my original reason for the commentary, Kevin Sumlin is another fine example of retread coaches who've never really accomplished much getting more gigs. Marty Schottenheimer and his kids got rich doing that. Dave Wannstache. Josh Gattis. Brian Flores. Dan Quinn. Norv Turner. Wade Phillips. Mke Mularkey. Adam Gase. Herm Edwards.

He was pretty good as am OC, not the greatest personnel, and and even worse DC. He did the right thing

I don't know, man.

That turnaround at Arizona was un-*******-believable.

We're talking about inheriting a non-descript program with lackluster facilities and zero in-state recruiting pull that had bottomed out — and then rising from complete dog**** to No. 14 in the country in just 3 seasons.

Fisch's staff recruited their asses off and found some hidden gems to bolster the roster. UA consistently played over their heads.

Hopefully he and his wife prefer Seattle over Hogtown.

Fisch at UF would not be a good thing for us imo

@Brains ... You gonna weigh in here?

Competent offensive coordinator. Good blend of college and pro concepts and experience. The reason he bounced around so much is he's always wanted the head gig, and would social climb quickly if he thought it would benefit that quest.

His reputation is more as an overall tactician/playcaller than as a recruiter or QB coach.

Would go to UF if they offered him (unless their offer just totally sucked). I know someone who lived on hall with him at Hogtown, said Fisch was a massive douche.

I prefer him at Zona to UF, although I do not think he's a panacea for UF.

I'll for sure defer to @Brains on this one ... but Fisch inarguably did a helluva job at Arizona.

I think he'll do fine at UW, too, once roster is elevated. For whatever reason(s), DeBoer's recruiting was pretty bad there (just the opposite of what his staff has done in a few months in Tuscaloosa)
