Jauntavius Johnson 2015 NT as a Miami Prospect

He Had 79 tackles and 10 rushing TDs last season, but yet there is no highlight made by his coach.

Here is the article on his stats.

Here is a local Alabama newspaper article on him, yet the coach puts no high light video together for him to shop to colleges?

http://dailyhome.com/view/full_story/23994481/article-Johnson-s-aggressive-play-leads-Lincoln-into-postseason?

Johnson is starting to hear from Bama and Tenn.

@San Amaro Dr , I read it on a SEC forum

What if I told you I know his head coach and he did make him a highlight tape but instead of putting on YouTube or message boards he sent it off to college coaches?

The whole purpose of having a highlight video is to open generate buzz about the kid so that he will get offers from both schools that the head coach may have contacts with an other schools as well. Not to mention also getting invited to high profile camps an all star games. So I am suspect of that supposed move by the coach to send it to just selective schools he wants to push the kid to! So thank you for proving my point that the coach is shopping the kid, rather than allowing Johnson to get the most exposure possible.

The kid said in the Louisville article he wants more offers, but based on what you are saying since you know the coach Johnson will only be exposed to whom the Head coach wants, hmmm sounds a little suspect. Because based on what you are saying that would mean Miss St, Jacksonville St, and Louisville have seen his tape, an wow those are all some great schools (sarcasm).

If you know the coach so well, and your a Miami fan why didn't you have the coach send the (alleged) highlight tape to Miami knowing we run a 3-4 scheme and need NT in the worse way, considering Johnson would be a good fit for what we do.

When did I say select schools? My point is that my post is just as credible as the information you read off of an sec board. Some coaches prefer to leave videos private for various reasons. One of those reasons is they don't like their game film out on the internet for everyone to see. As far as not making a highlight tape for the kid that's bs. Any kid can make their own tape on hudl and it's very simple. His HC very we'll could be a dirtbag but you're just guessing. You mean well but you aren't actually in the recruiting process so you don't understand how colleges get highlight tapes.

San Amaro, you are free to think what you want. Like your made up head coach connection I don't put what connections I may have to the recruiting process out in the streets. An actually Hudl is a more complicated than just a kid uploading a video, there are school subscription fees ( costing $1000's), but you should know that right!

http://www.hudl.com/signup/

An FYI I am fully versed in how recruiting tapes get to staff's at schools.

Danny,

you do such a selling job on these kids you should be a street agent. At least make some money for all this work.

Slow & plays way too high

Didn't look at the videos, but from the description, it sounds like he might need help walking in and out of the game. Maybe a handcart of some sort to get him in from the sideline?

The kid played TE and RB for his team as well. Will he break a 70yd run heck no but with in a 15 yd box he moves well for some his size. **** he had a 10yd off tackle run for a TD at 330lbs in a game that was discussed in the previous posts article link.

2014 RCS Birmingham Video DL vs OL ( he has a very good get off)
https://rivals.yahoo.com/video/recruiting-football/RCS-Birmingham-OL-vs-DL-1124319;_ylt=AsYT7B6pJEnS3VoUfBBhx9JHPZB4

As for playing to high , he is reading the blocking while looking for the ball carrier notice his good head placement and hand usage. In the ol vs dl drills he stays low, so he is obviously correcting his technique which wasn't that bad to begin with.

Since Auburn offered Johnson as a OL prospect and they just took a 3rd OL commit for the 2015 class from 4* Kaleb Kim. An with only 3 Senior Olinemen on the roster for 2014 from a roster management stand point there doesn't appear to be anymore room for them to take johnson considering they have 7 soph & 3 Jr's as well as 1 R-fr.

Generally if a team keeps 14 OL players on the roster that is good enough to provde quality depth. So Johnson will now more tan likely have to look elsewhere or wait to for a decommitment to make create roster room.

Lets hope UM takes up interest in the mammoth prospect with a very high ceiling. Consider this UM current NT commit Quentez Johnson is benching 380lbs and squating 500lbs as a junior in high school, while Jauntavius Johnson was putting up those numbers as a freshman ( per the Video in the original posting). Putting these guys in a NT rotation would be a welcome change for UM's shortyardage defense.

I may be wrong on this, but he's been rated by 247 for a while as well as being Crystal Ball'd to Aubrun for a while. I know that means nothing, but is he really under the radar or is Auburn just slow playing him?

Congrats to young mr. Jauntavius Johnson he is now rated the nations 28th best DT, going from under the radar status to Top 30.

I am hoping UM starts recruiting this young man soon his recruitment will explode soon, then its a wrap. He favors Auburn but they are going in another direction.

Under the radar? He's been a 4* #19 DT since at least June of 2013:

He only has offers from Auburn ( non-committable and slow playing him), Jacksonville St.,So Miss, Louisville ( because the UGA DC went there), and Miss St. So I would say that is a under the radar type offer list.

Also both scout and rivals had/have him listed as a 3*. Don't try and make this about some bullcrap agenda, this thread is and should only be about a Kid who could be a great pick up for UM if the staff were to recruit him.

Are ya'll saying you don't want him in this 2015 class? If that is not what ya'll are saying then save the BS and enjoy the info about a DL Prospect.

question is he better than http://espn.go.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/player/_/id/128221/edgar-cerenord ?
Is the DT we have committed better than ^^^^^^^^^^^

For the style of two gap 3-4 scheme Miami currently runs then Johnson is better suited considering he is 6'3" 340lbs an is country strong but moves well for a big man. However if we switched to a more attacking style 1 Gap 3-4 then Edgar Cerenord would be a beast at the NT an I would prefer him.

As for whether if Johnson is better than UM's current 2015 NT commit Ryan Fines, I am always going to pick the kid that wants to be a Cane right now an is committed to UM especially when Fines has shut down his recruitment. An truthfully I think they would complement each other while playing in rotation, and then if we had Cerenord to add the 3rd down pass rush component; oh my!

So hopefully that answers your questions.

Well this kid went to Alabama's camp and simply wrecked everyone put against him, an then guess what happened old Nicky Saban pulled him a side an offered. But he is still a plan B/C for both Auburn and Alabama, which saddens me considering this kid has Louisville as his #2 after Auburn an most likely will end up at U of L , which is a shame considering UM's glaring need at NT.

UM needs a DT commit soon.

So Saban offered him but he's still a plan b-c for them and can't committ.
