Yeah yeah yeah. Ive heard all this sh*t before. Bottom line is, Golden turned around the WORST team in Division I football, and made them actually competitive. And for all the "anyone could have done that" bullsh*t, why didnt they? Temple hired dudes with NFL experience, and for DECADES had been rolling through coaches, and yet it took THIS guy to finally get them moving forward.
He's obviously not Nick Saban or Pete Carroll, but we could never afford those guys anyway. Jimmy Johnson wasnt Jimmy Johnson when he came here. Our only hope was an up and cominhttp://canesinsight.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=804142g hungry young competent coach who could rebuild this program with the talent available in SoFla, and develop his greatness, as he developed our greatness.
Nitpicking bullsh*t from the MAC. Whoopie do. People can go back and bag on all kids of sh*t Saban did at MSU. Every young coach has problems.
Problem is it looks like Temple was the most talented team in the Mac and still couldnt win conference
Your comparing apples and oranges...Jimmy didnt have the moist talented team in the conference at OSU and Saban didnt have the most talent at MSU in the big 10.... Golden had most tallent in the mac as evidenced by the draft and he still couldnt win it..how do we expect him to win ACC?
Well couldnt the same be said for Butch? Remember "Botch Davis"? Golden is still a young coach. Dude has a lot of learning to do. He obviously recruited **** well and developed his players well at Temple. To sit there and **** and moan that he couldnt win it all at Temple with all his "talent" is hilarous, considering how many coaches couldnt sniff a win at Temple before he got there. So what if he didnt take it to the top. It was his first gig.
Look, I dont know if Golden is going to be the next Pete Carroll or Nick Saban. Maybe the best he can be is Bob Stoops. Fact is, most coaches wont be. **** we won in 2001 with Larry F*cking Coker. If he can recruit and develop players like Butch did, then even if he isnt the GOAT gameday coach, we are going to be in a position to be playing for championships in a few years. Then we need to hope we can get over the final hump.
At the end of the day, we are a medium sized private school that can only pay around 2 million a year for a coach and not a **** of a lot for assistants. We arent Texas, USC, UF, Bama or OSU. We dont have hundreds of thousands of Alumni and subsidized by the state so we can hand a coach 4-5 million bucks a year.
This staff has issues, but Im already seeing more from this staff than I saw from the last one. Recruiting for needs, teaching kids fundementals. Yeah Im not sold on our DC either, but right now, we just dont know what we have. We have a lot of young talent, and they may grow in the 2000 team, or they might crash and burn like the MNW Class debacle. We wont know for another year or two.
