With UM still looking for NT's to man the middle of the dline lets talk about an under radar prospect that will soon explode onto many schools recruiting boards throughout the south.

Jarvis Loftin is a stoutly built 2014 Nose Tackle from Mendenhall,Ms. the 6'2" 330lb loftin recently attended Miss St's Dawg night where he put on a clinic, virtually dominating every linemen at the camp.

Another player that impressed me was a guy that I had no idea of before the camp. His name is Jarvis Loftin and he is a defensive tackle from Mendenhall, MS. He is 6-1 330. While at first glance he appears to be a bit short, when you watch him you can only be impressed. His hands great at the point of attack and his feet are explosive. He showed a variety of moves en route to dominating most offensive linemen at the camp. He once got stopped on a rep and when you thought he had lost his first rep, he spun off the offensive lineman and got to the quarterback. It was jaw-dropping. Loftin is definitely a guy that will move into my next Mississippi rankings. Where his recruitment goes from here is still to be seen, but whoever gets him will end up with a good player.

UM is in need of 1 or 2 more true NT's to round out the interior of the 2014 DLine class and Loftin could be a viable option, since his high schools plays a similar read and react scheme to what UM is currently running. At time the Mississippi all state player was double then tripled teamed and still manage to make the tackle. In his highlights there is a play where he is completely blown off the ball (by a triple team), but still manages to pursue the ball carrier laterally and makes the tackle.

I am hoping UM reaches out to this young man soon, because it sounds like MSU and Ole Miss may be picking up their recruitment of the young man.

Paranos - the info is appreciated but your thread titles are misleading.

That's why it says possible UM interest with a Question Mark, and I end the write up with UM should start recruiting the kid. That said what did you think of the high lights?

Go Canes

Your question mark implies to normal people(I don't count you among us) that there may be interest, but you can't confirm. Not you pulling a DT out of your backside who you think Miami should recruit. Try to be a little less ridiculous and title the thread, "Random DT's name. UM needs to get on this kid"

I appreciate the threads like this from Paranos. Keep it up.

Didn't he talk about Jenkins way before anyone thought about him?

It's still pretty early so maybe if this kid keeps working our staff will jump in the mix. Either way, I appreciate the info.

Darrius Sapp out of Georgia is twice as fast as this kid and looks a lot stronger..Will probably end up NT in Sec but is the best pure Tackle for a 3/4 scheme I've seen in some time..

Paranos putting in work. Not sure why he gets the hate. He just posts some guys that he thinks are good prospects at a position of need. I remember he was raving about Brandon Ivory a couple years ago when he was 1 of these nobody's with no offer. Dude ended up going to Bama. Same thing with Courtel Jenkins. Keep up the good work paranos.

I agree Darrius Sapp does have better quickerness but I think Loftin has a better motor and plays with more power. Darrius fades away at some points in games thn comes back, where as loftin keeps coming all game. I like them both which is why I wrote about them.

Also I wouldn't throughtout "the Best pure nose Tackle you have seen in some time "title so quickly. For instance 2014 Bama commit OJ Smith ( a lowly 2* , sarcasm) looks pretty good.

1 out of 1,000. Just saying.

I don't mind the threads either as long as it isn't taking away from legit discussion, which I don't think it does.

The bigger point stands though, with Cory Johnson committing to Kentucky, we are going to need another JUCO DT in this cycle so we are far from finished with the beasts in the middle.

I prefer kids that physically developed , but if UM is looking a juco and can't flip Johnson, then I say Jethro needs to revisit the recruitment of 2014 JUCO NT Sam Schwab. Whom I mentioned a few months back, then for some reason Jethro dropped the ball with this kid despite the kid having alot of interest in UM, he has a brother in South Florida. Now Oregon and Boise State are sitting pretty good with the young man but they are setting him up as a Plan B/C type do to lack of available spots.

But i would take an under the radar country boy like Loftin just as quick.

I agree I think its important, especially US right now, to have a mix of physically mature talent and guys who are a few years away. We have a couple of holes to fill just on the DL, especially since a guy like Briscoe is already gone.

We've definitely been pounding the pavement. Hopefully we can steal another good JUCO DT from the SEC after the season starts.

Somebody forward these tapes to Golden

Done already so now lets see how this plays out. He was recently rated as a 2 star by Rivals up from no rating earlier this summer, he should be a soild 3 * by mid season, considering he plays in Mississippi and doesn't get much exposure.

Go Canes!

So........... another guy who may have absolutely no interest in UM

Also FYI a coach is going to check him one of his games this year to evaluate him in person, most likely when they go up to see UM commit 2014 Juco DT Stuckley who is at a JUCO in Mississippi.

So you sir can Kiss Me Rass!

Now back to the OP this kid could be a good NT prospect, who plays with good leverage at the point of attack. Not to mention being a country boy I doubt he would have the same premadonna approach to recruiting as some of the other higher profile currently uncommitted prospects.

Go Canes!
