Jarren Williams and Kirk Cousins... having Elite Stats vs being an Elite QB

As I said in another thread, just bc you're not playing bad doesnt mean you're playing good.

I heard all this talk about Jarren being so awesome-amazing-accurate, but hes been extremely pedestrian.

I see no upgrade from last season thus far. Offense might actually be worse tbh.

I want to say he will improve, but I dont see it. The things hes lacking are intrinsic/instinctive and usually wont be developed. QBs that dont throw the deep ball dont just suddenly start throwing the deep ball. QBs that dont run, just dont start running more.

The best we can hope for with Jarren imo is an elite dink and dunk game, especially now that teams have film on him now.

So far The offense is worse than it was last year and you can tell with the comments from the coaching staff that Jarren hasn’t performed to the same level that won him the QB competition. Performing on Greentree vs showing up in a real game is two different things which we all know all to well on this board.

IMO he's a game manager so far. He doesn't win or lose you the game. Also I think if Kosi was the starter he would look about the same. Tate would look horrible in this system.

The crazy thing about it is that most hurricane fans at the beginning of the season would have taken this type of QB to start the season. One who could simply get the ball in the hands of our play makers and not make bone headed mistakes.

All of Nkosis bad moments last season were contributed to immaturity, Jon Richt being his QB Coach, a predictable offensive system, and not being fully backed by Mark Richt as the QB. None of those things are an issue this year.

He doesn’t have to be taught when to run the football, when to throw it away, not to hold on to the ball and take unnecessary sacks... and doesn’t have to grown into figuring out how to command the huddle all are obvious issues in Jarrrens game that stick out like a sore thumb when watching him play.

Non of the QBs are perfect, The real issue is that we’ve only see a little of NKosi in a real game in this new team and new coaching staff to really know how he looks this year and Jarren hasn’t wowed anyone enough to say if he continues to play the exact way he’s played that another qb doesn’t deserve a look.
Immaturity causes you to throw interceptions and miss wide open receivers? You give me Jon Richt as an excuse for Nkosi I counter with the worst OLine in P5 football for Jarren. I just listened to Enos say how he had to change the offense against CMU because we were getting beat at the line. I mean we are talking about Central Michigan here. Nkosi played behind a much better line last year.

Now, You are absolutely right on Jarrens faults. He needs to learn when to run, when to throw it away, and Jarren needs a better internal clock. I believe that all that can be improved with game experience and knowing the offense better. Where we differ in opinion is I believe all those things can be improved much easier than a quarterbacks accuracy. Nkosi isnt accurate enough for me and never will be.

Your a Nkosi fan I get it, but your making excuses for him but dont wanna give any for Jarren, if we could combine the two we'd have a monster but we cant . If i had to pick Im picking the accurate QB and coach him up.

More revisionist history..

2018 vs North Carolina 329 yards
2019 vs North Carolina 488 yards

2018 vs Savannah State 494 yards
2019 vs Bethune 590 yards

there is nothing else to compare, yes we had a cluster ***** against Central Michigan but we looked good against Florida but couldnt finish in red zone (thats on jarren) and looked good against North Carolina on the road at night better then Clemson looked . CMU where we couldnt even run the ball was puzzling . Is it jarrens fault that we couldnt run for 40 yards against CMU??
