Jarren Williams and Kirk Cousins... having Elite Stats vs being an Elite QB

Bruh I’m a Vikings fan and I already know hes terrible and my life sucks for it. Don’t kick me while I’m down

I don't get the narrative that this guy was any good to begin with. What has he ever done?

Krazy, you're hitting a lot of nerves on here bruh. Most on here are black and white thinkers, they can only look at a few stats and then determine whether a guy sucks or not. They determined Kaaya was great and surrounded by scrubs, Rosier was awful in 2017 and the powerhouse Canes won in spite of him, and then back to Williams is great and everyone else sucks again. You make a good point though in comparing to Kirk Cousins, that's a really, really good comparison (and I almost never say that on here). We always get away from what makes the Canes great, as Lamar Jackson and Teddy Bridgewater weren't good enough for us because we're obsessed with "accuracy". Tate should be starting now, that much is obvious. Hopefully JW can learn how to become a gamer and a winner over the next 4 years, but like you said, it's unlikely.

IMO he's a game manager so far. He doesn't win or lose you the game. Also I think if Kosi was the starter he would look about the same. Tate would look horrible in this system.

Our “fans” had an odd obsession with wanting to be the first person who said “I knew he sucked”.

You’ve diagnosed Jarren as a non difference maker after 4 starts. Behind the worst Oline in the country. And then cap it with a blanket statement that no football ever changes.

C’mon man

I agree with & disagree with OP.

I also agree with most of the comments both for & against OP's point in this thread.

Somehow, nearly every point (both positive & negative) in this thread is correct lol.

It’s too early to tell.

Jarren is showing tons of promise.

Young quarterbacks don’t usually start fast doing the types of things Enos asks of his quarterback.

I’m bout to put a Louisville slugger upside the head of this horse carcass, but I really hope Enos keeps building on the short drops and routes. Jarren is decisive and deadly when you don’t make him think too much.

Enos should be doing more like Longo does Howell at unc. Letting him get hit and make mistakes is slowing his growth.

We need some better route concepts in key situations, too. I really didn’t like the call on that failed 4th down attempt in the first half against cmu. Thought Enos could have come up with something much better. We never seem to cross up defenders and create natural picks and indecision in the secondary.

The problem with @KrazyCane theory is his answer is Nkosi Perry or Tate Martell. He says QBs are what they are and dont change... ok so let’s look at Nkosi Perry. Dude completed less then 51% of his passes last year, which showed horrible accuracy, and his yards per pass last year is actually lower then Jarrens this year and was the lowest on the ACC(so much for your dink and dunk theory). So Jarren can’t improve because QB’s are what they are but you expect Nkosi to improve from last year? Your QB bias is ridiculous brah. Tate Martell was told to leave Ohio State because hey didn’t want him and moved to WR here, yet u claim you wanna see what these two can do? What gives ??

Also if u even watched the Minnesota game against Chicago Kirk Cousin was playing under center with three tight ends a good majority of the game, the first game of the season Kirk Cousins might have thrown 8 times.. and they ran like 50 times, you can also go back to last year to where the coach said they threw too much to why the change in philosophy from the OC...you obviously have not been following Minnesota or Cousins at all... might I add in 2016 Kirk cousins was second in the league in total passing yards behind Drew Brees and also Was 2nd in the league in yards per attempt behind Matt Ryan??Does that scream a dink and dunk QB to you @KrazyCane?? Your out here making **** up to try and prove your point, not cool bruh. The offense is holding Cousins back just like it’s holding Jarren back hes only doing what hes asked..I’m not crowning Jarren at all but your theory is way off based

Lamar and Teddy would have had many of the same problems as Jarren and Brad if they were coached by Richt and Enos.

We have had trouble with protection and don’t adjust well enough to it.

When Richt finally implemented a quick passing attack, Kaaya went on a tear and played the best football of his career.

Jarren will make Kaaya look like a walk on 2 star if Enos would do the same.

You can’t compare Kosi stats to Jarren. Too different systems. Jarren is okay so far. I think Kosi would look about the same in this scheme. Enos system makes qb stats look decent.

Maybe but Accuracy is accuracy, if you put Jarren in any sytem hes going to be more accurate then Nkosi any day of the week and twice on saturdays, For all Nkosi's strengths and a great arm he missed on many deep balls last year , people have revisionist history like he was some great deep ball thrower, the tape dont lie. I remember him missing guys, over throwing guys and more specifically throwing balls out of bounds where our receivers didnt even have a chance to catch the ball many times. End of the year lets go look at balls completed thrown over 20 yards in the air and I guarantee you Jarren comes out with a much higher completion rate wont even be close..

But see that’s the thing, if yall say Perry can hit the deep balls or even push the ball down the field or whatever then why wasn’t it displayed last year in an offense that did many vertical routes and concepts compared to what we have seen so far this year

Exactly, I remember him overthrowing guys deep , and throwing the ball out of bounds where the receiever couldnt makle a play over and over a again.

The issue with jarren is he isn't even attempting the throws. Kaaya wasn't a great deep ball thrower but he would attempt them and he hit on some. Same for kosi he was willing to take the shots.I just want him to be a little more aggressive.

Are you saying we aren't running a quick passing attack now?

I wholeheartedly disagree with your first statement. Lamar had one of the most porous OL at Louisville I have ever seen in my life, worse than our current one. I'm not sure why you think Richt and Enos are two of the worst QB coaches of all time, these guys have quite the track record to show that they know what they're doing.
