Jarren Williams and Kirk Cousins... having Elite Stats vs being an Elite QB

I don't get the narrative that this guy was any good to begin with. What has he ever done?
Oh he never has been. 9 win and is his career best it was a meltdown for Viking fans with half a brain after that contract. Both my teams are jokes it’s a hard life

The problem with @KrazyCane theory is his answer is Nkosi Perry or Tate Martell. He says QBs are what they are and dont change... ok so let’s look at Nkosi Perry. Dude completed less then 51% of his passes last year, which showed horrible accuracy, and his yards per pass last year is actually lower then Jarrens this year and was the lowest on the ACC(so much for your dink and dunk theory). So Jarren can’t improve because QB’s are what they are but you expect Nkosi to improve from last year? Your QB bias is ridiculous brah. Tate Martell was told to leave Ohio State because hey didn’t want him and moved to WR here, yet u claim you wanna see what these two can do? What gives ??

Also if u even watched the Minnesota game against Chicago Kirk Cousin was playing under center with three tight ends a good majority of the game, the first game of the season Kirk Cousins might have thrown 8 times.. and they ran like 50 times, you can also go back to last year to where the coach said they threw too much to why the change in philosophy from the OC...you obviously have not been following Minnesota or Cousins at all... might I add in 2016 Kirk cousins was second in the league in total passing yards behind Drew Brees and also Was 2nd in the league in yards per attempt behind Matt Ryan??Does that scream a dink and dunk QB to you @KrazyCane?? Your out here making **** up to try and prove your point, not cool bruh. The offense is holding Cousins back just like it’s holding Jarren back hes only doing what hes asked..I’m not crowning Jarren at all but your theory is way off based

See you’re fixed on completion percentages yes it’s obvious a QB can statistically become a better passer.... Jacory Harris did it his last year under Fisch. NKosi Perry is a better passer under Enos and so is Jarren Williams.

And NKosi tails-pinned for a lot of reasons last year that are both on him and the situation he was under BUT he did prove to me that he has the right stuff it takes to be a winner and all it took was one game... FSU. I don’t care what his completion percentage was that game, he made every throw that was necessary to come back and win that game taking advantage of the only opportunity he had to make those throws. If he missed any one of the throws he made we would’ve lost, it’s that simple. Not just the throws, commanding the huddle, getting the offense nsync during winning time all leads to making the winning play.

Now does that mean I’m crowning NKosi as the next great Qb, **** no bc I also know that it takes more than having a clutch gene to be a winner consistently... Jacory Harris had a clutch moment in UM history, Stephen Morris had a couple, even Malik Rosier.

I just would rather have a QB that has proven he can overcome adversity and still win a big game while continuing to develop into a better qb... and I think that is NKosi Perry among the QBs we have after watching Jarren play. Tate is an unknown but just from the highlights I’ve seen of him at Ohio State has the tools and attitude to possibly be that guy as well especially in the right system.

Jarren is going to have to show me he has that mentality for me to be convinced bc empty completion percentages don’t impress me anywhere near as much as making winning plays when you dont have any more time to make up for your misses and mistakes.

Ayo son,

Jarren Williams is the best QB Miami has had in a long time.

I’m disappointed with a lot of things this season (to the point that all I’ve been doing is troll posting happiness and positivity on this board) but Jarren Williams performance ain’t one of them.

Literally all I asked for since forever was a Miami QB to finally throw for 60% or better on the season and that would solve many issues.

Jarren is still learning you can see it his face when he throws the ball. Still working on trusting himself, his body, and the ability to make the throws. If he ever develops a confidence with his current game over the next two years (he won’t be here for 4) the look out yo!

Life for real. I think his 2021 Alabama Opener is the most important game of his career. Saban will be that much closer to retirement and it’s the type of game that can shift a balance of power.

I just want to see him start getting more confidence in himself. When I watch a young Sam Howell. I see a kid in the 4th Quarter who is not afraid to let that bitcch fly.

We going places with this kid. Y’all gone see. We need the defense to not waste this kid during his time here.

HAs nothing to do with completion percentage bruh, its about putting the ball in the Wr's hands, I dont need a completion percentage to show me that Nkosi is not accurate. My two eyes tell me. He misses guys running wide open constantly.eDidnt mean to bring up completion percentage because I didnt have to. Everybody can see Jarren is more accurate has nothing to do about being statistically better.

You bring up FSU at home where the defense won us that game.. Nkosi put us behind the 8 ball and the defense saved our *** .Jarren hasnt had a chance at home at all.You said yourself Rosier, Jacory, and Kirby Freeman beat FSU coming form behind and that was on the road not at home like Nkosi was with much better throws. .

What about the Duke game last year? We had a chance to tie the game the last 3 possessions and Nkosi did nothin and dude was like 25% for the game missing receivers everywhere..

What about the Virginia game last year where Nkosi threw 2 interceptions in the 1st qtr and coach had to take him out because the moment was too big for him?

What about the Pitt game where dude was like 4 for 24?

You are cherry picking stats because he made a few throws at home against FSU. Dude was overall horrible last year.

I do like Nkosi's command in the pocket I just dont see the love for Nkosi and tate. And Tate was in the perfect and only systen he can thrive in at Ohio State and they told him to kick rocks. Jarren has issues he is not perfect but he is the best QB ive seen here since Brock berlin

i liked this interview from Williams, he knows he’s got clear room for improvement

Krazy, you're hitting a lot of nerves on here bruh. Most on here are black and white thinkers, they can only look at a few stats and then determine whether a guy sucks or not. They determined Kaaya was great and surrounded by scrubs, Rosier was awful in 2017 and the powerhouse Canes won in spite of him, and then back to Williams is great and everyone else sucks again. You make a good point though in comparing to Kirk Cousins, that's a really, really good comparison (and I almost never say that on here). We always get away from what makes the Canes great, as Lamar Jackson and Teddy Bridgewater weren't good enough for us because we're obsessed with "accuracy". Tate should be starting now, that much is obvious. Hopefully JW can learn how to become a gamer and a winner over the next 4 years, but like you said, it's unlikely.

Man, I have no idea why I'm even doing this.

...no amount of getting older, learning on the job experience, studying in the film room, or work outs with Feeley is going to turn a player into something they’re not....

Aaron Rodgers stat line in his 4th start vs. Oregon State in 2003:
9 of 34 (26%), 52 yards, 0 TD, 1 int.

The loss dropped Rodgers to 2-2 as a starter.

No. JW is not Aaron Rodgers.
Shet, he's not even Don Majkowski at this point.
Some of the signs are there but no one knows who he'll be or not be after 4 games.

Narrator: And soon he learned that a 60% completion percentage does not win games and did not solve any issues.

Are you saying we aren't running a quick passing attack now?

I wholeheartedly disagree with your first statement. Lamar had one of the most porous OL at Louisville I have ever seen in my life, worse than our current one. I'm not sure why you think Richt and Enos are two of the worst QB coaches of all time, these guys have quite the track record to show that they know what they're doing.

We are not relying on short, 1 or 3 step drop passing as the core of our offense. The main thing we do is play action from under center in our current offense.

Richt and Enos didn’t have the line to run what they like and were slow to adjust. Hopefully, Enos rectifies that. I don’t think Richt and Enos are bad qb coaches. They are bad at adjusting their play calling to what is working for the personnel they have/had.

Lamar would have gotten yards on the ground, but there would have been some passing struggles. He would have hit more plays than Rosier, though.

Comparing him to Brad with their difference in running ability wasn’t ideal, imo.

Exactly, I remember him overthrowing guys deep , and throwing the ball out of bounds where the receiever couldnt makle a play over and over a again.

Or force throwing balls to guys who were covered by multiple defenders. Hence the completion rate and the turnovers...

The only quarterback this dude never bashed was Rosier.

I understand what you’re trying to say OP but I think it lies somewhere in the middle. Cousins is what he is. Jarren still can get much better with better Oline play & experience. I do see what you’re saying tho & you might be right.

As I said in another thread, just bc you're not playing bad doesnt mean you're playing good.

I heard all this talk about Jarren being so awesome-amazing-accurate, but hes been extremely pedestrian.

I see no upgrade from last season thus far. Offense might actually be worse tbh.

I want to say he will improve, but I dont see it. The things hes lacking are intrinsic/instinctive and usually wont be developed. QBs that dont throw the deep ball dont just suddenly start throwing the deep ball. QBs that dont run, just dont start running more.

The best we can hope for with Jarren imo is an elite dink and dunk game, especially now that teams have film on him now.

All of Nkosis bad moments last season were contributed to immaturity, Jon Richt being his QB Coach, a predictable offensive system, and not being fully backed by Mark Richt as the QB. None of those things are an issue this year.

He doesn’t have to be taught when to run the football, when to throw it away, not to hold on to the ball and take unnecessary sacks... and doesn’t have to grown into figuring out how to command the huddle all are obvious issues in Jarrrens game that stick out like a sore thumb when watching him play.

Non of the QBs are perfect, The real issue is that we’ve only see a little of NKosi in a real game in this new team and new coaching staff to really know how he looks this year and Jarren hasn’t wowed anyone enough to say if he continues to play the exact way he’s played that another qb doesn’t deserve a look.
