Jamie Gordinier SR Highlights

If i was coaching the U, I would offer. I prefer local talent first, but diversity is always welcome especially when an out of state player brings a skill set we don't currently have down here. We could have used him against GT and Nebraska. This isn't a reach offer. This kids plays good football and has good offers.

When you let Golden come down here and run his style, it's going to take a few years for him to get his style players in the system. I just don't know why we want that style down here when it kind of goes against the style that is home bred down here.

This kid will be 245 by the time he steps foot on campus. Please don't have this kid as a LB unless he has his hand on the ground.
 
I think he is too slow to play LB and I think he is slow for a DE. People are down on Kirby for his lack of speed and he runs a lot better than Gordinier.

However, it's not Gordinier's fault that Golden is trying to build a Big 10 team in Miami. When you judge him on his merits, and in our system, he is a solid player. Instinctive, highly productive, good in space for a 235 pound high school kid. The kind of player who kills it at a school like Wisconsin.

Would not be surprised at all if Gordinier plays early at SAM.

How would you contrast that with a 'bama type of defense? They seem to produce their fair share of bulked up but slow linebackers. To be clear I would love us to run an LSU type defense, which appears to be predicated much more on speed than size (especially the front seven, e.g. barkevious mingo, while they usually have a relatively big secondary). I just think there are other models for large linebackers besides the Big 10.

Bama is similar. They have easy access to those big linebackers- McClain and Mosley are from Bama, Hightower is from neighboring Tennessee. The star LBs we've been able to get are quick, smaller local guys like Beason, Spence and Perryman.

I use the Big 10 example because that's where Golden was introduced to major college football. Coincidentally, Gordinier's best offers are from the Big 10.
