believe the transfers to Auburn & Edna Karr were announcements, but he never enrolled.

So Freshman Yr: Oxford AL
Soph-Jr Yr: Gulf Shores AL
Sr Yr: Baton Rouge Central

Visited him in spring and liked what we saw.
Would you not agree it seems like the kid has the mindset of a mercenary though? Personally I'm hoping we cut some of those mindsets out of our recruiting approach. I get it, Its the nil approach & the portal. But this has been my one issue with evaluations. We gotta put more time and consideration into their mental approach. Need more "teammates" & less individuals.

The more LBs the better I would take 4 this cycle after only signing Kellen Wiley last year. And Hayes status up in the air at the position

We still don't want him?
Heatherman traveled to see him in late May and put him through a workout

This decommitment has been in the works for a while. Just a coincidence it happened prior to our OV.

We’ll have a good idea on where he stands from a Miami perspective after his visit this weekend. If he makes it to campus, of course.
Loy had him on flip watch for a long time which confirms this isn't unexpected.

It’s a legit concern with any kid who bounces around like he has.

Can we really avoid having some mercenaries in this era? I agree you don't want a team full of them or you end up where FSU is. But I can guarantee all of last year's playoff teams had probability double digit mercenary types that helped them win.

I thought we stopped recruiting him because of this. Then, I read we were recruiting him, again. Maybe, we never stopped. He is definitely a take, talent wise. I have to assume the staff fully vetted this, now that he is at Central. He chose Auburn over LSU. He was transferring to Auburn's doorstep and now he's on LSU's doorstep. We will know his feelings about Miami if he moves to Dade after his OV. Seriously though, the sad part is, with our LB recruiting, I want him. I seriously don't know what's going on with our LB recruiting outside Jordan. It has appeared a mess.

Yeah when you're getting them out of the portal. The portal recruiting & high school recruiting shouldn't even be similar in that context. I've stated my approach to the portal for a while now. They aren't players you should be BUILDING your team with. They're finishing touches. Mercenaries are just fine for a one year commitment. But when you're taking a kid out of highschool it's about longevity and development. It's a whole different mindset. When those kids are mercenaries too you get the same **** happening that we've seen since nil started. Kids that just come in havent played any meaningful snaps, haven't developed etc stick you up yearly or transfer out yearly... That's ****ery. Y'all blame a coach when reality is the **** **** goin on now a coach is just learning how to deal with. It's new to everyone. Athletes near to have some accountability as well.

Recent Auburn decommit LB JaMichael Garrett (Baton Rouge, LA) is no longer visiting this weekend as the staff works through some things.
