I couldn't care less to take the time to go pull receipts, but there were multiple posts in that thread of people saying the same old **** when we don't get a kid we went all-out for.
"He doesn't wanna come here, what are we supposed to do, we tried our hardest we just couldn't get him" blah blah. And then there's always the secret stuff everyone knows, of course, but won't talk about as to why it's OK said recruit isn't coming. It's just copy and paste whenever we whiff on high ranked recruits.
I haven't seen much of that in this particular thread, although I haven't really read a ton. But that Russell thread is full of it. You either sign the kid or you don't. Literally not one single thing else matters.
I wasn't asking YOU PERSONALLY to pull the receipts, I asked it of cway because he is obsessed with making negative posts.
Mario has tried his hardest. This is not like past recruits that we lost out on because we didn't exert maximum effort. There is a difference.
In this thread, I think there has been a failure of unrealistic expectations. A lot of posters assumed that JJ should be a layup "because Northwestern" and they have only recently realized that he just transferred to NW from North Fort Myers.
As for Calvin, if we fail there, that one is going to sting for a while. It's like the opposite of JJ, this one had all of the valid expectations in the world.
Where I disagree with you is that other things matter too. Maybe not in regards to signing Calvin, but as far as fixing things in the future so this doesn't happen again.
No excuses. But do the autopsy and figure out how to make improvements.
