Jamal Carter senior season highlights

He does look a little slower compared to his junior highlights but still a freakish athlete and already looks to be college ready.

"Dude looks a little slow"

"Kid has lost a step"

I didn't realize there were so many blind guys with both down syndrome and micropenis posting on here nowadays.

This dude is phenomenal athlete - probably second only to Artie Burns (and maybe 6) in South Florida this year. His highlight tape wasn't sped up like the VAST majority of tapes you see, but the way he was closing down on ball carriers in that tape was exceptional. You can tell right away that he's a twitchy athlete who doesn't take much time to accelerate. DMoney alluded to this in a post earlier this year when talking about attributes that Butch Davis looked for in recruit, but this guy's short area quickness is very excellent. I think that this guy and Artie (especially Artie) are very special when it comes to closing the gap between themselves and ball carriers in very small amounts of space. And this guy lays the ****in wood when he hits you. Yes, he didn't bang out any huge runs where he was pulling away from people like a ************ in that video, but you could immediately tell he was separating from just about everyone. Let's not forget, this is a guy who, in the words of Don Soldinger, "is built like Tarzan." He doesn't have to be running 3.4 second forties to be effective because he has an incredible frame for someone his age and his short area burst and ability to eat up yards in 1-2 steps is very good to great.

Lost a step, Jesus Christ. I'm pretty sure guys who look like Tarzan don't lose a step between the ages of 17 and 18. It's not like he just sat around playing World of Warcraft all day between his junior and senior year and gained 50 pounds of fat. Jamal Carter is a special athlete and as soon as he gets on campus and starts murdering running backs from the secondary, I'm going to resurrect this thread and say I told you so.

AMEN!!!!!!

And he did gain weight from what i read this past summer he put on 10-15 lbs and maintained his speed played faster....

Didnt pete just report from the dade county all star game how much of beast and college ready he was im just sayin sheesh

Well I guess I'm blind too because Carter does looks slow here. Not 4.7 slow though, just looks like he lost a step from his junior year. Like Ghandi said, looks like he gained a bit of weight.

+1. he sure has lost a step.
a slower Antrel rolle and maybe could play outside Lb!
he does pack a punch when he hits.

look at this kid's physique, he has a huge upper body and neck.
very instinctive though.

I'm blind too I guess. He doesn't play to his 40 speed. There were times that his burst did appear to be pretty quick. Also very stiff hips.

Great looking prospect nit picking aside. Could be a LB like Shaq Thompson at UW.

In his Jr. highlights, Carter was Pulling away from everyone on returns; regardless of their angle. In this tape, he gets chased down every time.

Nobody said he was any less of an athlete sir, you may need to work on your reading comprehension. He is still a premium athlete at a premium position for the 'Canes. Not sure what there is to "hate on".

He just looks bigger, yet less explosive.

I'm pretty sure he's faster than Jenkins and right there with Bush.

Rayshawn is a 4.5mid guy. I think Carter is more the 4.6 range based off this tape. Seems he lost some top end speed, but that can be regained. He is a ridiculous athlete at the end of the day.

A very impressive highlight regardless and should be playing early here. Even though Deon is faster, I'll take the ball in Carter's hands if their is an interception to be had.

I dunno. I watched the tape for the third time and I really didn't see him "get chased down." I saw him chase down RBs for TFLs. I saw him chase down Wrs. I guess you can make a case for a few returns. He showed no burst; but imo, he really didn't have the lanes.

This guy is going to sift through traffic and smash RBs regularly. He's got short area burst and excellent closing speed within 5-15. If he can key and diagnose ( P.Williams and D'Nofrio) 40 speed won't be necessary. He'll be on it before it happens.

Fans are paranoid due to a string of safeties here who appeared to have huge potential but whose speed/range severely hampered them. I like Carter better than all those guys and think he's gonna be a stud for us, but I think there's a bit of merit in the "lost a step" observations.

Whatever. Kid's a football player. Feel good about Golden putting him in position to succeed, this isn't Carl Walker.

favorite recruit committed right now. dude is a bonafide stud and i expect him to start THIS year

he didnt really have the oppurtunity to pull away he was surrounded by tacklers. and he did kinda look like tarzan breaking alot of tackles

he looked a bit more fluid and like he was gonna jump off the field in the JR tape. this tape he looks bigger and a slightly slower first step. still very good lateral quickness and plenty fast for S

I agree. No knock on him, the senior tape still looks great and I think he we have a stud. I don't think posters are trying to say he's now too slow or anything, but if you watch his Jr highlights and Sr highlights back to back, he just looks faster as a Jr.
