We probably aren’t in contention for Bryant if we don’t go on the playoff run to the natty.

Jacobs had much more legitimate and longstanding interest in UM. We were actually the runner-up there.

Bryant committed to LSU shortly after the South Carolina Dline coach, who had been recruiting him forever, got a job at LSU.

Rule of UM recruiting- whichever one we land, the other one will turn out better. It’s like quantum entanglement, observation changes the state of the particle. Call it the Heisenberg Recruiting Principle.

I agree with this. And which is more likely to flip? I’d think DJ since he was all but secured to us until OSU gave him an offer he couldn’t refuse.

Is it as simple as we’re matching osu’s offer especially considering they have other highly rated DEs they are projected to sign?

Also I can see Lane giving him a ridiculous offer. They better win this year because they are spending money.
 
I think flipping Bryant or Jacobs will require one of those “I did what was best for me and my family” type of decisions.

Take the Matthews bag and given them an offer one of them can't turn down.
 
Love both their skill sets but our defense is different when we can set the edge which Bryant shows on film a bunch

No.

His arm length isn't really a big deal IMO because he's a power to speed rusher, which means the #1 tool that he'll utilize is contact initiation. He's not try to just run past OT's, his first move is to initiate contact to knock the OT off balance & then uses his speed to get to the QB.

If he were purely a speed rusher, then yes arm length would be more important.

2nd, neither one will be necessarily ready day 1, because we already have multiple DE's that will be playing ahead of them by the time either one gets on campus, so neither one would be expected to start as TF's.

Also, they're 2 different positions. One is a Strong Side DE & the other is a Weak Side.

Bryant is a 3-Out/4-In/4-Out rusher, while Jacobs is a 5-Out/6- through 9 rusher.

Its not really silly, just not 100% fool proof. They do rely on measurables and testing numbers which are a great indicator of future potential but you also have to turn on the film and check the production and intangibles. Especially after they seen him go up against IMG and balled out
