Duke.... The only college team in the world that is so amazing they drop 5 star players to "get older". They haven't won a championship in a decade but still... lets not get lost in the details.Lol yeah we had to drop him we trying to be a older team .. he was all Duke .. good get for yall tho
Lol Kentucky just did the same thing drop a 5 start PG…. Ain’t win a championship in a decade but still one of the biggest brand in college sportsDuke.... Such a bizarre way to frame the situation.Lol yeah we had to drop him we trying to be a older team .. he was all Duke .. good get for yall tho
They looking at some ppl in the portal and they probably bring someone in from the 26 classSuch a bizarre way to frame the situation.
Henderson probably wanted a better shot to get starter minutes as a frosh. And he doesn't come cheap, so he was likely commanding a decent chunk of the NIL budget.
But unless Duke's done recruiting this cycle, they're not "dropping" a top-30 national recruit without external motivating factors.
Lol ppl still on this postLol yeah we had to drop him we trying to be a older team .. he was all Duke .. good get for yall tho

Frank Haith was at Miami, Mizzou and Tulsa. Three programs where it has been proven that you can win(and win big) if you are anywhere near competent. He won ONE NCAAT game in EIGHTEEN SEASONS. Pitino has coached for 13 years, same amount of NCAAT wins, and he’s been at places like New Mexico, Minnesota and FIU. Let that settle in. Haith managed to fail at two power conference schools and a strong midmajor.
We get it, you are going to support this nonsense no matter what facts are thrown your way. There’s no way a rational, unbiased person supports this hire, period.
Marcus Freeman ended up at a school with almost infinite resources, extremely strong fan support and unique dynamics which helps on the recruiting trail. Miami basketball is not ND Football. Y’all are straight up reaching at this point.

Why should Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, Clemson, SMU, all have better basketball coaches than Miami?
Not Duke, UNC, Kentucky, Kansas but the above mentioned schools.
You wanted to Miami to hire Andy Ensfeld after 11 years of misery at USC? He literally did better in tourney at FGCU than at USC (except 1 year) w/ the most talented prep players in the world in his backyard
UCLA was off their game when he was thereThe only reason he outperformed his FGCU Sweet 16, with a single Elite 8 run, was because he hired the Mobley brothers’ dad.
Brad Brownell made the tournament and lost in the first round during his first year at Clemson. He did not make the tournament the following six seasons. I’m sure Miami fans would have been willing to wait on his development! After his sweet 16 in year 8, things really stabilized, Clemson had five more seasons without making the tournament before they got rolling.
Auburn has a basketball HOF on their sidelines because he had a three year show cause. Chris Beard strangulated his wife which is why he is at Ole Miss. Chris Jans was fired from Bowling Green for being sloppy drunk at a bar. Not sure what happened with our contact with him.
Buzz Williams’ best season at A&M led to a first round exit. He has made the tournament twice in five seasons. At VT, he made the tournament three times in five seasons w/ a Sweet 16 appearance that got him the A&M job. However, you wanted Miami to hire a coach who went 44-46 in the ACC? Okay then. The current VT coach basically has an identical record compared to Williams’ tenure there. Williams’ three predecessors at A&M were all better than he has been to date. Two of them leveraged their success into better jobs — something Williams has not yet done.
Alabama was one of the better programs in the country from ‘73 to ‘05. Before hiring Nate Oats, they hired a rising Anthony Grant from VCU. He failed, but their process to come to that hiring decision was fine. Jeff Capel, Shaka Smart, Mike Rhoades and Will Wade were all hired away from VCU just like AG: 3 SEC schools, 1 BIG12, and 1 BIG10.
The three coaches before Grant all had winning percentages of 60%+ and over .500 in conference. One had 70%+ total winning percentage record and two were 60%+ in conference.
In 1998, a survey done by the San Antonio Express-News proclaimed Newton (former ‘Bama HC) "the most powerful man in college basketball.” He was an assistant on the ‘84 Olympics team, played under Adolph Rudd, led the effort to desegregate the SEC, was chair of USA basketball for the Dream Team, and implemented the shot clock + the 3 point line into college basketball.
After Grant, Alabama hired Avery Johnson who previously lost in the NBA finals and also won 60+ games two separate times in Dallas. These aren’t exactly little league moves. Because of course, Alabama was never a small time college basketball club.
“You guys act like being a college basketball coach is running NASA and being an astronaut at the same time”Coach L’s intro to UM/hiring was facilitated by a booster.
I’ve been one of the biggest Coach L supporters on this board (and Jay didn’t want the job anyway)… but there’s no way Jay should have been given strong consideration.
We need a coach AND CEO for our basketball program. Just a coach isn’t enough because the support and resources have to be worked for here.
Lucas might be a brilliant young basketball mind… although there is insufficient evidence to make that assessment with any confidence. But there is ABSOLUTELY no evidence of his ability run/manage anything, let alone a massive operation like the entire basketball program (including staffing, fundraising, NIL, infrastructure building, etc.).
First player brought on board was Shelton Henderson. How many coaches has the Miami football program hired with ties to South Florida since you've been alive. And not just head coaches, the assistants too. And what exactly has that accomplished? We will not be raiding the city of Houston for players
Just an absolute terrible hire.
I suggest Cane hoops fans find a winter hobby
Again its why SEC will keep soaring above ACC in basketball. SEC hires proven good coaches while ACC hires assistants.
