I’m not sure anyone has the answer to this but do you think there is a possibility that Lucas has always been around great players who have a high base of fundamentals, then he gets to Miami assuming his players will have that level and they don’t? We are honestly horrible at almost every aspect of fundamentals; FT shooting, defense, & turnovers.

It’s a testament to his coaching that we have 17 wins despite so many flaws but it’s concerning we don’t seem to be getting better at any of the above aspects.

Guy acts as if Shelton doesnt need a breather lol.

Yall need to understand, we are 18-5, and we are beating the teams that are realistically on our level. That is an amazing coaching job.

1 elite scorer
1 above average but inconsistent guard.
2 freshman
1 strictly lob threat
Missing a 3 and D Guard.
Missing another contributor due to cancer who was expected to be a big part of team depth
And 3 utterly useless euros.

This is not a complete team or very talented. They are exceeding expectations by a million. What were we, like expected to finish 12th in the ACC preseason?

Some of you guys need to get a grip on reality with your expectations.

Next year is when you can have those expectations.

Retain Tru, Allen and Shelton. Maybe Marcus Allen comes back.

Add Gaskins.

Spend big on two elite transfers (like Reneu and Donaldson).

Now youre looking a team that can do more.

I didn’t even think we be close to 18-5 so I’m pretty happy

I’m ok with Jai. I think he’s been better than many of us expected.

That being said, he’s used to inherited elite level talent with refs calling games favorably. I’m also assuming Scheyer didn’t get on players as it wasn’t necessary.

The Euro evals though haven’t panned out. I can’t imagine any of them back next year unless we strike out completely in the portal

I have no idea how anyone could be too critical of Lucas, staff and players after the sht-show we experienced last year.

The last two seasons combo, Miami Hurricanes men's basketball has 22 combined wins with 9conference wins.
Year 1 of the Jai Lucas era, where he is trying to establish
a culture of defense and rebounding wins championships with a group of players he put together about 8 months ago is currently 18-5 with 6 conference wins in a stronger and deeper ACC.
I see the vision Jai Lucas has for the program and they are headed in the direction that he wants them to go.
Jai Lucas is exceeding all realistic expectations.
If anyone thought Jai Lucas would have a flawless product on the court in year 1 then the issue is not Jai Lucas, the issue is with the person who has unrealistic expectations about Canes Mens basketball.

Timo is a perfectly acceptable rotational 3 point specialist on a tourney team. Other than that, yea, quite underwhelming

Jai was given much credit for Duke's clamp-down defense. Deserved or not, who knows, but that was supposedly his calling card. Tough, in your face, old school defense.

Have we seen that? To me, our Offense has been better than I expected; the Defense is improved, but maybe not what I expected.

UNC will really test us. Lotta shooters/scorers/depth.

Yeah the euros have been bad wondering if they cut then all loose

Really dumb take. Malovec has been fine as a rotation piece (36+% from 3) and Dovrat doesn’t play enough for us to know what we have there.

Altuntas is rough but overall, let’s not make like we whiffed on all 3
Seriously altuntas is a joke dorvat doesn’t play what does that say

Team is fun to watch but Painful when Altuntas goes to the foul line,he doesn't offer much I wonder if we have someone else to play the center role he has taken on, is there an injury? Face it, Altuntas isn't the athlete we need. Henderson oozes talent but seems to not know what to do when we work the clock, after seconds he stops moving as if he isn't sure what to do but when he comes into his own..watch out for his star potential. He will dominate opponents.
