Brooklyn (NY) ASA College OT Jahair Jones is getting the full-court press from Miami coaches.

Coach Al Golden visited him at Brooklyn (NY) ASA College yesterday with James Coley and Mark D'Onofrio in tow, but coaches didn't stop there.

They flew to his home state Maryland immediately afterward to meet with his mother and grandmother.

"That showed that they really care about my best interests," Jones said.

Jones said when he met with coaches "They were saying how they had a great quarterback, how they ran the offense, that they'll be an ACC championship contender. They said that they made mistakes they shouldn't have made this season. And going down there on my visit, I hadn't been to Miami before and I loved it."

Coaches told him they want him at left tackle and that he can compete to play right away.

Jones says the attention from Miami has paid off.

"Miami, they're the top one for me now," Jones said.

He's choosing between UM and Virginia Tech and plans to announce Dec. 18 after he returns home for the holidays.

Virginia Tech coaches have already taken an in-home visit with him - "I'm done with home visits," he said.

So the Canes' chances of staying on top through when he signs (he's an early arrival)?

"A big chance, 60-40," Jones said.

He says what will make the final difference is when he talks more with his family.

"They feel comfortable with Miami, but they're also comfortable with Tech," Jones said. "I'll talk to my mom and figure out that stuff. She says go with the best opportunity for me, the best exposure."

I'm not impressed by Him. But if he commits that's added depth

Well Jahair Jones JUCO freshman yr highlights look good.

His Highschool highlights look good also

The best thing about Jones is that he was a full qualifier coming out of high school in Maryland so he will have 4 years to play 3 at Miami since he spent this year at JUCO. An after a spring of S&C he should be in a good position to be a starter or at minimum provide quality depth.

Jahair Jones is another player who is expected to be on campus this weekend. At 6-foot-5 and 315 pounds, Jones is an offensive tackle prospect from ASA College in New York. Originally from South River High in Maryland, Jones was a qualifier out of high school but decided to attend Junior College to get more looks.
That decision has paid off. Jones has already taken official visits this year to Ohio State and Virginia Tech and now he's set to see Miami this weekend. Only a freshman, Jones will have four years to play three and is set to graduate later this month. He doesn't have any other official visits lined up right now so it appears as though this is a three-team race.
The Hurricanes already have four offensive line commitments but they still seem interested in adding a couple more. Two key high school targets remaining are Jalen Merrick and Fredrick Johnson. They also plan on adding a Junior College transfer. Jones is one major target and another is a kid they just offered yesterday (Malik Cuellar).

4/3 is a great thing to have for a JUCO who's enrolling in Jan. that's ideal. Staff can afford to red shirt him and still get 3 more years out of him.

redshirt who that boy look college ready right now, he look like a guard we need depth on the line

Would guess that they are counting on him to be game ready and replace Flowers

Sign him up. That kid jut from the eye test looks to be ready size wise. He's a basketball kid so typically he hsould have good feet, though im still waiting for Sonny ot show up and provide something. He looks like a kid if he commits, will push for pt early.'
Ereck Flowers i gone, been gone...no need for him to come back...he'll be a top 3 round guy and a instant starter in nfl. Dolphins should take him, because Dallas Thomas is downright horrible...and James the ot they drfated from Tennesseee looked like a beast most of the year.

No they fvcken don´t. Stiff, slow, bad balance. He looks awful. In one of the pass pro clips he got beat badly by the slowest change-of-direction move I have ever seen. Some fat slobbish DE who will never sniff a NCAA roster. He´s strong, that´s about it, but even then you have to look at his comp and wonder if that is the reason he looks strong. This class looks pretty fvcked up right now outside of a handful of players (Scarlett, Dawson, Chatman, Perry, St Louis and Johnson).
