with what we'll have i can't see how he's not a top 3 pick ... i'm watching chase young and thinking to myself that's jaelan phillips, he just needs the national recognitionIf he comes back he will be on everyone’s watch list for an early day 1 pick.
For real. I don't get the fascination with wanting guys to make bad career decisions just for the benefit of your fandom. Phillips has busted his *** every play to earn his moment. Is already in the conversation. Let the kid find his dream. He’s earned this
Chase uses his hands A LOT better and that's mostly bc of Johnson (OSUs DL Coach)He definitely could be at chase young's 2019 level. I'd say the way he's playing he's a little better than what young was as a junior. They're equal size. Chase was 6-5 264 and Phillips is 6-5 266. I think Phillips motor is better but young has a better get off at the snap. I doubt he's staying though. It'd be nice to keep someone like bama or clemson
no fascination ... i'm watching chase young and i'm thinking to myself the effort and movement screams phillips, however young was celebrated for an entire year of college football and turned it in to a top 3 pick ... it's on him if he goes or stays ... but based on the brand we provide and his raw talent, plus a year of national recognition, he could be set for life ala youngFor real. Miami will never be Clem$on or Baga where early round picks inexplicably return to school.
Yeah he does. That's also phillips lack of experience. His technique is getting better. I saw him and quincy using spin moves that I really hadn't seen him do muchChase uses his hands A LOT better and that's mostly bc of Johnson (OSUs DL Coach)
I agree with you — the kid has definitely put in the work, but the difference between a top-5 pick and a bottom-5 first round pick is about $15 million. He’ll never make that back up.For real. 100% this. Just get that insurance policy and your good to go.I agree with you — the kid has definitely put in the work, but the difference between a top-5 pick and a bottom-5 first round pick is about $15 million. He’ll never make that back up.
If money is at least a part of the journey, then he might want to consider staying (and I’m always ”go now”).

5th pick 2020 - Tua $19.6M ($30.2M - guaranteed)From your mouth to god’s ears.
I have no issue with him declaring. But man would it be great to have him another year.
. It'd be nice to keep someone like bama or clemson
i should have brought the numbers to my argument ... but thank you5th pick 2020 - Tua $19.6M ($30.2M - guaranteed)
25th pick 2020 - Aiyuk $6.7M ($12.5M - guaranteed)
32nd pick 2020 - Edwards-Helairen $5.43M ($10.82M - guaranteed)
If he leaves I’ll genuinely be happy for him, but as I said previously: you can’t just make up $15M over the course of an NFL career.
