Jackson Cantwell is not hurt

Never seen anything like this. You could go through every post on this board from inception, and until this year the universal (and correct) opinion was you cannot rely on underclassmen across the defensive and offensive lines. That, in fact, has been accepted doctrine since the beginning of time. But for some reason, Cantwell is the exception 6 games into his first year on the nation’s No. 1 ranked team.

Because of Mauigoa.

Miami is undefeated and #1 in the country and ppl are obsessed with Cantwell.

It is what it is either way. He stays and develops great. He leaves and Miami gets their millions back to hit the portal next year, great. In the NIL world these type of misses of it actually plays out that way don’t hurt as much. It’s part of roster turnover these days and managing your teams budget. Get used to it.

Samson played behind great players on great units early on. This is not the Samson situation as Samson pushed for time his freshman year on a SIGNIFICANTLY better and more talented units.

I am confident that Cantwell will turn into a great tackle but not getting burn on this o line compared to Samson’s slow development is not the same.

1000% this! And I was at fault for it too in the off-season, I thought he was gonna come in and lock down a tackle spot and be our guy at one end this year. Unfortunately he’s just not ready and that’s OK, not everyone is Cici. Just gotta give the kid time.

Who were the great players Samson was behind his true freshman year?

Rivers, Matt Lee, Javion cohen, Francis and Anez

Please compare that bunch to our group we’re trotting out there
Rivers and Cooper were far from established “great” players. Please tell me, over the last 50 years of Miami football, the number of true freshman tackles who have started and played “great.”

Rivers was established as a good player, and cooper had already started as a freshman majority of the previous season. Samson wasn’t ready but there was better players in front of him than there is now for cantwell

I’m not asking for Cantwell to play. He looked terrible at guard im just saying this o line we’re trotting out there is filled with JAGS and outliers (not in a good way). 2023 and 2024 O line’s were legit. With NFL players. Could only wish that is what we were trotting out there.

Also rivers was an absolute stud for us whenever he was healthy I see this narrative about rivers too often
