While it would be akin to winning both showcases on the Price is Right, it is still possible Miami lands both Jackson Cantwell (Nixa, MO) and Keenyi Pepe (IMG). I wouldn't necessarily bet on it, but I was told Miami would find a way to make it happen if it looked viable.

That's what no one seems to comprehend factors into this kids recruitment and where I'd say we're at a severe disadvantage. Kids a monster in shot put. If you're not relevant in track and field nationally it's probably gonna hurt.
Or you can make them relevant. Just like we weren’t a FOOTBALL POWERHOUSE. Until Howard got here and we became relevant.

Ehhhh. For one that's always been overstated. Howard always told me that himself. Recruiting the city of Miami and the city kids themselves started before Howard got here. He was just the first one to really make it a point of emphasis and it wasn't because of him that it turned out that way. It was because of arguably our most important recruit ever being that well liked and respected. That recruit being Alonzo Highsmith. Kids and parents saw Alonzo on board they jumped in with him. Howard just rode that train all the way out

Not sure what that has to do with what I believed was a disadvantage for us in that we don't compete at a high level in track and field anymore & how that could effect this kid. But someone clarified we can get around that who's apparently around the family. I have heard this is very legit here with this kid.

So you don’t understand you/the athlete make a program relevant? You actually kind of proved my point. Alonzo was onboard and everyone followed. Cantwell could help make the track team relevant. Although we’re more known for speed.

not sure this is about cantwell but this is from an OL analyst on staff

Three teams are trending for the class of 2026 No. 1 recruit Jackson Cantwell, sources tell On3. The Five-Star Plus+ offensive tackle is scheduled to take official visits to Miami, Missouri, Georgia, Michigan and Oregon.

Sources tell On3 that Georgia, Miami and Oregon have emerged as the three top schools to watch to this point in his recruitment. The 6-foot-7.5, 305-pound offensive tackle from Nixa (Missouri) recently took unofficial visits to Michigan and Ohio State, but the trio of Georgia, Miami and Oregon all have momentum entering official visit season.

The offensive tackle has visited Georgia four times and is a top priority for Oregon’s Dan Lanning, next to five-star quarterback Jared Curtis. Miami has made a big push as of late, bringing him to Coral Gables twice in the last five months.

“Miami’s gonna get him back in May for an official visit, and no question, Miami is pushing,” On3’s Steve Wiltfong told On3’s Josh Newberg on a recent ‘Wiltfong Whiparound’. “Their track record of true freshmen coming in and starting on the offensive line and going on to great careers. Cristobal with Penei Sewell at Oregon, Cam Robinson and Jonah Williams at Alabama, most recently Francis Mauigoa on the edge and Anez Cooper inside, both started as true freshmen at Miami.”

Throw unlimited bag at him & Pepe

5* QB Jared Curtis is an important chess piece here IMO. He is down to UGA/Oregon, and will require a very hefty % of one of their NIL budget. I’d rather go up against UGA for this kid than Oregon, JMO.
So you're saying it's better if Curtis chooses Oregon?
