Jack Del Rio Son Named Starting QB for the Turds

Good for the gators getting a Bamaokie State legacy to keep their offense out of the shop.

You know you're **** when your household last name can't even get you 4 stars. Another boring *** gator offense where skill players go to disappear.

McElwain, like his mentor, likes managers at the QB position, and this guy fits his profile exactly. Expect low turnovers and large dose of high percentage short throws, with the deep ball strategically thrown in here and there.

In short, count on a boring *** offense (maybe even more so than last year) from the reptiles. I'm not sure why any high caliber WR would ever want to go there. They will be pounded badly by any team with a halfway decent defense.

Didn't DelRio lose his job at some mid major school? Not good enough for Conference USA but head and shoulders above the best at UFail.

Lets hope the Gators win 6-7 and Hurricanes win 10+ , then we slide in and take marco wilson and kadem telfort . He11 , hit up Daquon Green too

No...he never played at Bama (walk-on) and was the backup to Sean Mannion (3yr starter & 3rd draft pick) at Oregon St. for 1 year.

Gridiron Now had a quote from an anonymous SEC coach which I'm pretty sure is UGA' Kirby, FWIW, that was absolutely brutal.

I don't ever hope they win any games. Ever. And at this point I don't want anything to do with Choad Wilson or his kids.

I know what you were trying to say but I prefer absolutes when talking about anything UiF. Absolutes filled with nothing but venom.

Here's the quote on UF from an anonymous coach(es) although personally I think a lot about Del Rio and how bad Geoff sux as a DC is straight from Kirby Smart:

Florida

One coach is convinced Florida won’t repeat as East Division champions.

“Florida won’t be as good as last year,” the coach said. “They might not finish as high as third. They lost their quarterback (when Will Grier transferred). They grew with Grier last year; now they’re back to ground zero. They don’t have the same depth and numbers of potential explosive guys on both sides of the ball that they’ve had in the past. It’s surprising, considering the state of Florida has so many skill-position players.

But a little bit of it is affected by the ebb and flow of FSU and Miami. If you look at history, those three schools trade back and forth, stockpiling elite players. In the last couple of years, it’s been FSU.

“They should have lost to Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Kentucky (last season). They have offensive line issues. And they haven’t recruited as well on offense as they have on defense.”

One coach had high praise for coach Jim McElwain, who milked 10 wins out a team that ranked 12th in the SEC in total offense last season.

I love McElwain,” the coach said. “I think Jim will take over more of the offense, use more multiple formations. They’ve got to get a quarterback. Luke Del Rio is not the answer. He’s a great kid, but he’s not an SEC starter.

Another coach said the Gators will miss cornerback Vernon Hargreaves III and defensive lineman Jonathan Bullard. He also didn’t have kind words for defensive coordinator Geoff Collins.

“Geoff is overrated,” the coach said. “He’s overrated as a tactician. He’s 11 to 14 among SEC defensive coordinators. He’s not in the top 10, I don’t think.”

Hopefully that will get me back in y'alls good graces. When it comes to UF we're certainly on the same team. dirol.gif

"He’s a great kid, but he’s not an SEC starter.”

THAT'S really saying something because the SEC is full of junk QB's that are starting.

No doubt. We're def. in a dry spell SEC-wide. If Del Rio sucks during this period of bad QBs, I don't even know what to make of him.
