Exactly. All about quality and properly spaced out quality at that. If you add a junk QB just because you feel you HAVE to and then 2 current QBs transfer because you've exacerbated any possible depth/opportunity issues in a now overcrowded QB Room then it's a freakin' net negative.

For every Will Grier and Jacob Eason who actually end up starting after a transfer there are a ton of Malik Zaire, Ryan Williams, Jake Heaps, Malik Henry. Kids transfer for all kinds of reasons...and if were looking for a QB itll probably morenin the sense of looking for a body rather than a rare transfer potential stud like grier or eason.

Its actually a higher # than listed. And i wasnt saying we were looking for a starter but certainly there is a qb out there who could provide an equal value to a young raw QB like MJjr.

Not taking a QB won't prevent a transfer. Between Perry, Weldon, and Williams, at least one of them is going to transfer next year. Depending on who wins the starting QB position this year or next. If starter is Perry --> Weldon transfers. If starter is Weldon --> Perry transfers. If starter is Williams --> Weldon and Perry transfer and William's would be the only QB on the roster at the end of 2018 if he wins the job this year.

A big factor is if William's redshirts. It would be better for the program if Williams redshirts. Otherwise we could wind up with an Alabama situation where all their QBs transferred after Jalen Hurts won the job as a freshman. Not getting a QB this cycle could wind up a disaster.

I would say it worked out okay for Alabama and they would agree, especially since they didn’t bother taking a scholarship QB this last cycle. I do agree it would be better for program if Williams redshirts.
 
You have to take a QB every cycle. Has Ivins said anything about what the DT board looks like? I know we have Daxon in the fold and we just recently offered Holley from Buford but outside of that idk where we stand. Need at least 3 maybe 4.
 
I'm hoping & remaining optimistic that we land MJ Jr, but in all honesty I think he'd be a great Spread QB & playing for Frost in his system would be enticing especially if he'll actually play early. With that said, I think we get MJ.

And the strategy of not taking a QB this class is not a good one, idk why some of you fundamentalist have to always man the shields & defend every decision made by the staff as if they're infallible.

They're the best staff we've had in a long long time & all of us are extremely appreciative of what they've done to rebuild us into a legit contender, that doesn't mean they're incapable of making bad moves from time to time. Not taking a QB this class is a bad move. Doesn't mean anybody needs to be fired or anything like that, just means it's a decision to bank on hoping one of the 3 youngins stick around despite hardly ever playing.

Playing the Transfer market for QB's isn't the smartest way to go about things to find a QB. Idc how many 5-stars are available for transfer, you always want your own kids that you developed to run your system.

This refusal to develop our young QB's & getting them legit in game reps has to progress. It ain't the 90's anymore, these QB's are not sitting for 3 years waiting their turn.

Said Braylen ingraham from STA is a Cane Lean. Like Tyler Davis from Wekiva but he's a OSU lean. Kicking tires on Derrick Hunter and Quashon Fuller FSU commit.

Everybody freaking out because he said IF we don't land MJJ(who we lead for) we MIGHT punt on a QB this year. Nothing in there is definitive but everyone is acting like it is. **** all the rest of the good news in that update, we MIGHT pass on a QB IF we don't land the one we lead for, so let's ***** and moan.

If there isn't one they like enough to seriously target then I am 100% fine with waiting and checking out the transfer market after this season. And that's if we don't land MJJ. Let's put the pitchforks down for a few.

Unless you have a walk-on you LOVE or are ready to give a scholly...Then no that is faulty logic.

Because the transfer could come this winter/spring/or next summer...So why leave yourself only 2 scholly qb next year? Pretty simple.

Transfers count as Initial Counters.
We have 3 IC's remaining from 2018 class. That means for 2019, we can bring in 28 NEW players total. Thats including Signees and transfers. So yes, there is a limit to how many transfers we can or should get/go for.

He's a really good receiver, he's a really good running back, and he could take up the slack.

No way Perry AND Weldon both transfer out.

The only thing Deejay can't play is DT, and I'm not real sure on that one. I bet he could put on quite a show at DT!

What people dont realize is thats precisely what paradise camp is. People confuse the camp aspect of it with paradise in itself. How we bill it is as a underclassmen camp for invites and walk ins. But the main part of it is strictly invite only from players weve offered and ones we need to evaluate for this upcoming recruiting class or underclassmen we loved the day before after evals and want to see how they compete with other elite recruits. Technically weve done nothing but that since the first one when we had an open camp the first day. Also while i will say ivins is probably the most informed reporter we have now thats really not saying much. Hes clueless on a bunch of things he speaks on. Lastly numbers may be great to have at qb but more than numbers we NEED depth. One of nkosi or cade will transfer. Regardless we need to ensure our eventual back up is a kid more than capable of stepping in and running our offense fluidly. A back up at qb shouldnt simply mean hes nowhere near as good... none of our qbs(malik included)should be exempt of having to prove themselves on the field at this level.

Well, if Feagles is punting our decision to not get a QB will work out in the opposite direction and we end up with a QB better than MJJ.

Bad idea, because there's a decent chance at least one guy leaves. Well, Rosier IS leaving after the season, and if Williams wins the job sooner rather than later, I wouldn't be shocked to see Perry or Weldon go. As soon as we know MJJ is or isn't coming, we should adjust our recruiting accordingly. We should always take one, since QB is the one spot where kids transfer out at a very high rate. It would be flirting with disaster not taking one.
