Schiano's D kicks *** anywhere he goes. He had a top 30 D every year at Rutgers. His did and would again kick *** here.

It wasn't him leaving, it was how he left. Not to regurgitate the whole story , but he ****ed a lot of the wrong people off.


Fans wouldn't waste their time discussing him as a candidate if they really knew how impossible it was.

Not going to happen. You guys need to get this through your heads. Butch is untouchable by UM. You are setting yourselves up for major disappointment with this.
 
i used to be in the butch will never coach here again camp. i don't think it's all that far fetched now.

Another feather in Butch's cap he had a history of hiring competent staff and with his YEARS of connections could hire us some really good coordinators for a change
 
it's not impossible. stop acting like an insider. i was here when he left. i listened to him on the radio. read the articles and interviews on why the deal didn't get done. he thought he was gonna be here.

stop w/ the insider talk. and time forgives a lot. coaches get rehashed all the time. a lot of different people here in charge now. do they want to be mediocre or do they want to be good/great. put your pride aside and hire the best man available.
 
I'd love to bring in someone that isn't hard headed about the scheme "they run". There are numerous teams out there that adjust there schemes to the personnel they have on there team. For example, since we had trouble bringing in a true Nose why not stick to a 4-3. Let tyriq and muhammad grow into 4-3 D-Ends. Don't make Chick balloon into a 3-4 end and lose all of his speed. SO Fla talent is all about speed and aggression we don't need our linebackers to be the size of bamas linebackers. Look how good spence was at his weight, or perryman when he came in as a freshman or soph. Let artie and howard play lockdown at corner.

All in all if you eventually want to run a 3-4 because that's what you run that's fine, but wait until you have the personnel in place before doing that.
 
Petrino or Butch would both succeed. They are both, uh, "questionable" I guess. Schiano or Chud would both more than likely be successful. More than likely both of those would want to so they could climb back to the NFL, which has been a good MO with us anyway. I'm happy with any of those hires, but not equally. But at the end of the day, any of those four would succeed IMO.

Yeah, we've done so well with unknowns, ever since the day Butch's recruits graduated.

Like we need another amateur hour.

I don't perceive Butch as a shady guy, but he's perceived nationally that way. Anytime his name is mentioned on other teams boards that's the first thing that always comes up.

Only thing he did was stupidly hire a dirty assistant at Unc.
 
what has he done? i'd take what he did here as enough. and he had some good teams and talent at unc.

Took North Carolina which was basically duke into a contender. Before the scandal and suspensions hit, there were people saying they would win the mythical nc that yr.
