ITT We Discuss Possible Golden Replacements

I'm here at the orange bowl, and Chad Morris has this Clemson offense looking right.. That's my pick for Goldens replacement..I'll just state that I want golden to stay btw

I live next to a former DB coach for USC and he was talking about kiffin. Says he doesnt know how to relate to players and cant get the playbook out of his face (would just get engrossed in it).
Granted thats just one point of view you guys can take with a grain of salt.

I really don't think what has to be done is that complicated. We need to hire a coach that won't use this as a stepping stone opportunity. Someone that we won't have to worry about leaving in 2-3 years. Butch is older now, and has had his taste of the next level. He probably kicks himself everyday for leaving the first time. Its been stated that he is hungry to continue coaching. Why not hire him with the understanding that Coley stays on as OC and coach in waiting for when Butch retires. This keeps our current class together, as well as keeping our best recruiter. Coley can learn from Butch as he develops himself into a good OC. Butch can hire who he sees fit as a DC, and switch back to a 4-3 to better suit the talent available in south Florida. Minimal time would be wasted on staff hiring's, so he could jump right into the last weeks of recruiting. This scenario satisfies most of our fans, saves the 2014 class, locks up the best talent evaluator and one of the best recruiters in college football, and puts the defense back were it should be.

Serious question for those suggesting college coordinators: do you actually follow this team? 30 years I've been a fan and the college coordinator route is idiocy beyond comprehension.

MIAMI IS NOT A PLACE TO LEARN HOW TO COACH. IT WILL EAT ANY INEXPERIENCED HC ALIVE. Get that through your heads Jesus Christ.

Chad Morris with a lower HC salary and Eddie O with the highest DC salary in the NCAA. Keep Coley for recruiting.

Jesus ******* Christ seriously are you 14 or 15? That might honestly take the cake as the dumbest idea I've ever heard.

Rookie HC, rookie DC, keep the old rookie OC but strip him of his play calling bc the new HC is an OC. Yea sounds like a plan!

Jesus this one just ended the night for me. I'm out.

Is Franklin a real candidate or would he stay put?
Is butch a real candidate or will he not pass the shalala test?
Is patrino, is chud, is oleary, is cutcliff, how about the vest, crystalball,
Need more names?

The Vest? Hadn't thought about that. How old is he? Could be interesting.

Strong would have been the homerun....I'd expect the admin to stay "in house" this go around. Don't want a guy taking off to his dream job again....going to want a guy who has UM as dream job. Guys like Cristobal, Curtis Johnson, maybe Chud but the admin might fear him jumping back to NFL if given the chance. Guys like Petrino or Ed O I just don't see happening, too much baggage.

Top programs should never, ever hire a coach without a proven track record as the HNIC. That is a golden rule of nearly every top AD. Look at what it did for us, self prescribed probation is what it should be called. Golden is/was better than Coker and Shannon but it was only because he moved around and got his real rookie mistakes out of the way at Temple.

I think Butch should be at the top of the list, but anyone who wants to make us a stepping stone to the NFL is welcome by me. That formula worked before and it would work again. But I want to see the resume read "Head Coach" with a winning record against some quality opponents.

What a frenzy. Here's my $.02...

I'd look to Cristobal for HC. Already knows the Miami area, has established recruiting relationships with HS coaches down here, would help in most of this class sticking, is an alum, already has relationships with remaining staff.

Assuming what Pete said is true about Coley remaining, I say bye to AG. I agree w/an OP about this reaching the point of no return.

HC -- Cristobal
OC/QB -- Coley
WR/TE -- Carroll, with a chance to bring Lamar Thomas? Kevin Beard would even be good here
OL -- Kehoe
RB -- H. Brown
DC/ASST. HC -- ? (Orgeron)
DL -- ?
LB -- Barrow
CB/S -- ?

If that couldn't come to fruition, I'd look to James Franklin, see what his interest level is, then Curtis Johnson.

Finally someone who has eyes open and isn't living in a dream. This could work, just hope some people aren't disappointed about Mario as the HC.

Would be good with me. He'd do extremely well here. Unlike last time there are actually alot of decent candidates. No to Curtis Johnson.

I think the DC would be the guy who was his last DC at FIU, Todd Orlando, who actually did a good job
at Utah State this season, and who had alot of years as DC experience at UCONN under
Randy Edsall. His fellow co-DC at UConn was Hank Hughes, who coached the DLine. He may be
available now that UConn has a new coach.
Hurlie Brown coached DBs at Louisiana-Lafayette, so he could conceivably move over to that
side of the ball. If this happens, we should nab Telly Lockette to coach RBs.
I would hope we could find a better Oline coach than Kehoe. Kehoe is a true Cane.
Love the guy and I would like to see him get some off-field work at UM.
Just not OLine coach.
Having said this, I would hope Mario is not at the top of the list of candidates.

Who are your top guys for the job that we have an actual shot of getting?

I might even be able to get some insight when the job opens up. My old high school football coach/history teacher is Bobby's uncle. I replaced him as a teacher when he retired.

/no troll

Cristobal, Franklin, C. Johnson, Mark Hudspeth.

Don't sleep on Curtis Johnson. VERY well respected in Louisiana, has UM experience, and recruits down here.

Franklin & Hudspeth both energetic, successful young coaches.

I'll ******* shoot myself if it's CJ.

Way to aim high with your predictions. Maybe realistic but extremely underwhelming.
