It's time to put UCF and the other Florida schools in their place

I live in Orlando, I was listening to a radio show one night with a UCF guy explaining the argument behind their national championship claim (it involved this "selectors" nonsense, but whatever).

So I knew about a few of these, but I guess Wikipedia has a nice summary of it...

And by UCF (and Bama and Auburn) criteria, the University of Miami has won NINE (noine noine noine) national championships, including consecutive championships for every season from 1986 to 1991 (six in a row!).

By the way, some of these are not obscure. Two are NY Times national championships. Two are Sagarin. The only one that is a bit light on the support is 1986 (which we should get anyhow via a retroactive disallowance of Jerry Sandusky and his defense).

Time for Dyme Lyfe to make new t-shirts.

National championships[edit]
Miami has won nine national championships from NCAA-designated major selectors.[407][408] Miami claims the 1983, 1987, 1989, 1991, and 2001 national championships.[409]

Time to make the UCF fans suck it. If they can put "National Champs" in their stadium, then we can claim NINE for ourselves.

Same. Exact. Criteria.

Make it 10, thanks.

No, because we aren't a bunch of lame idiots living on Mars like the UCF fanboys are.

Nobody outside of Orlando cares about UCF's fake title. I've tried to explain that to fellow alums. Almost every single school could add multiple "claimed" titles if they recognized every single poll.

Right now, as Miami we need to concern ourselves with beating Florida to open the season and not losing to garbage ACC Coastal teams.

Well said. UCF's 15mins of fame will be over soon. They had a cute little run that was packaged to be something it never was. They will soon fade back into mid-major oblivion where they belong. Let's worry about beating UF!

The best way to put it to bed is to play them. I think we’re still looking for an out of conference game for 2019 schedule. Why not it will boost our strength of schedule more than a Teledo would.

SMH I was in the Tampa area last weekend and UCF fans are insufferable.

They don't realize their runs will always be a flash in the pan when they luck out on a really good up and coming coach who can stack lesser ranked Florida talent against a **** conference.

Said coach will always get poached and they will never get a title shot being in the conference they are in.

Best team in Florida bro!

/Would drop 3-4 games this past year in a real conference

UCF has earned the right to talk some ****. In the past decade they've had three 12-win seasons ..... with three different head coaches.

Yeah I know all of the arguments related to strength of schedule but lets be real, what they've done over the past decade is nothing short of amazing.

GTFOHWTBS, they've also gone winless twice since 2000, what they've done is admirable, but to act as though they've run through some gauntlet to do it is comical at best, granted I know you're always white-knighting them, but still.
